His kid is 4 so they did need to do something. Pretty sure load of parents found themselves in similar positions. Wonder if the rules should have reflected this reality rather than not and as for him fighting it when he really should have been in hospital - what a complete knob

The briefing is going so badly today I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Shapps. Sent out to defend the indefensible, no doubt as nobody more senior has the guts to do it themselves.

Mmmm.
Is the weight of what they're saying here that it's ok to go to a second home or an Airbnb , holiday let etc.

According to the government guidelines if you are unable to look after your children when you are displaying symptoms you should contact the local authority.

Also Jack Wakefield, who is Cummings brother in law, lives less than a mile away from them in London.

the advice at the time was explicit. If you have symptoms do not leave the house under any circumstances.

What if you were doing some DIY and chopped your hand off?

Coincidence how the advice changed once he'd done this? They even dropped 'stay home' in favour of 'stay alert'.

At the end of the day if they were doing nothing wrong why has it been kept secret? His wife has written in the Mail, Spectator and been on Radio 4 describing how they coped with being symptomatic. All the while implying they were in London and no mention of travelling to Durham or help from his family.

Id imagine Mr Cummings frightening indiscretion is likely to gain more attention and outrage than Fred and Rose and the new patio. Certainly more outrage

Fred and Rose didn't tell everyone else not to bury young women under the patio before doing it themselves!!

True but I’m sure the Durham police were there on mass far quicker than any burglary in that area - I’d imagine it was record speed - I’m amazed the press were not there to see the knock in the door and I bet police helicopters were in the area

that's a separate issue to be honest. I think the polices response to lock down has been well scrutinised and criticised. He wasn't the only one to fall foul of their, what can we call it, over enthusiasm.

There were people who couldn't sit and hold their family members hands when they died or attend their funerals. I don't think it's funny.

he thinks it’s funny until you get to the subject of care homes, he comes over all wobbly then. Only of relevance if there is a personal interest, until that time snigger away at people.

For the second time this week no figure for number of people tested due to "technical difficulties with data collection".
