If this does turn out to be a racist attack then the vast majority of our fans would be appalled and want everyone involved banned and the dealt with by the police however lets look at the two scenarios being presented.

One scenario is at a gathering of fans that wasn't pre-planned and included families, kids etc a couple of chaps turned up started having a pop at people and saying they had a knife, as multiple eye witnesses have said. Some people went to inform the police, others chased the group. The police arrived and dealt with the two chaps and a knife was recovered from the scene.

The other scenario is at the same gathering, someone persuaded two innocent chaps to turn up and start having a go at people. They arranged for some members of the crowd to go and lie to the police saying the chaps were armed. They arranged for a mob of fans (although some are claiming not actually fans but undercover police) to attack the group based on the colour of their skin, which would be unlike anything I have witnessed in 35 years of going to games. The mob were also instructed that during this racist attack they should make false claims about the chaps having knifes in case it was caught on video. They were conveniently chased to a location where a knife had been planted.

Which one seems more likely?
it wasn’t a racist attack the 2 lads turned up looking for trouble with a knife how can that be a racist attack ? If so isn’t that a racist attack on white people as 2 black lads with a knife looking for it ?

The thing for me is if they didn't have a knife why did the crowd keep a distance and not pile in to give them a kicking, glad i stayed away tbh, it doesn't look good however you look at it, imagine if some of the players had shown up like they tweeted.

I know for a fact one of the lads in the photos they've released was trying to stop the racist pulling down the BLM posters earlier in the evening.
I think they've released the picture because they've got footage of him throwing something later on. Hopefully he just gets a slap on the wrists but we know how they like to make examples of football supporters.

It will be the people they can nail throwing stuff on which was stupid but probably the result of beer and getting carried away in the moment

Does that not strike anyone as a bit odd? Is that how the police usually work, someone is accused of a crime so they let them wander off without taking any details before looking to see if there's any evidence?
They'll know who they are and anyway they have been named all over the net anyway

Listen to the statement - they were both searched, and one was handcuffed in the process. The police found nothing, so they let them go. What more should they have done?

Good news that there's no sign of this being a racist attack so far, although makes it even more sad and bizarre that it turned into the ugly scene that it did. Glad the police are keeping an open mind.

Take their details in case they needed to speak to them at a later date. What happens if they decide the attack warrants further action and need statements from them?

We know that's balls, you can hear the language hopefully them individuals are arrested and never step foot into a cov game, I also hope if its true they had a knife they both get sentenced but knowing out police force they will sweep it under the rug.

Yea the police are OK at a cov game a few years ago against Swindon I got pulled aside and searched because someone sia Di had a metal object they searched me and let me walk, just a pain as I was with my grandparents at the game.

There is a difference between it being a racially motivated attack and someone using racist language

Police will have taken their details if they can afford to run prints on the knife then they will take action I don’t feel they will run the prints tho

It's the police, if they need to find someone I think they're gonna be OK. Either way, to suggest they just let them run along without even searching them is clearly incorrect.

Yep when I have been stopped and searched they ask for your details as part of the search

I was there last night stayed until about 8.00 feel really sick that this happened, infact I am embarrassed that I attended now.
The only good thing for me is I left while everyone was in a good mood.
As for racism I have seen my far share and as a British born white man with foreign parents people talk openly to me about all the bloody foreigners over here taking there jobs a shit like that not realising that I am one of them it really makes my blood boil.
The best part is when I tell them I am one of those wankers should see them squirm.

It is and its not what I said. I said they let them wander off without taking their details which is exactly what the West Midlands Police statement says:
the men were given a safe passage away from the scene by officers.

They were not arrested and did not leave their details with officers at the scene
It may well be the case as you say that they can track them down at a later date if needed but that's surely a poor use of police resources compared to taking their details when speaking to them.

Anyway everyone should leave it here

It wasn't a racist attach and the police have indicated this

If they can get evidence they will charge both the morons who threw stuff and the lads with the Knives

The racist c**t that started this doesn't care that people who he is a racist and is in fact happy

The 2 lads will now know that it was stupid to threaten hundreds of people when armed with one knife

The police statement DID look to see if there was any evidence, and they didn't find any. I don't know if they took details, but we don't live in a police state, so I'm guessing they didn't (clearly they didn't walk around taking everyone else's details either). It's also a poor use of police resources to go around taking the details of everyone in sight, you know. But like I said, I'm guessing they'll have no bother finding them if they need to, so you don't need to worry yourself.
