Did you know that Ice Cream sales in the UK decline as the sale of umbrellas increase? Why is that do you think? One may make an assumption it is to do with the seasonal impact on both products. In other words the two facts are not related.

You put together a list of facts as to why the club is struggling - namely financial adversity. These neither make Thorn a good manager or a bad one. I think he's a bad manager and the surrounding circumstance prop him up.

Do you honestly think a new investor would really keep him as manager. Name me a new owner of any football club with sizeable investment that keeps a manager (unless its Wenger or Ferguson). Get real.

Maybe it is worth waiting to see our odds at the end of the summer. I dont think we were odds on favourites for relegation last season till a few days before the season started and the bookies got to see the SISU effect

Just checked, he took them up and then he left them when they were bottom of the table in January to manager Preston. Peterborough were relegated and then he took them back up again from league 1.

He did well before he had players took off him that were not replaced sufficiently. What are the alternatives? How can you judge him ehrn he is never given a fair crack of the whip by the owners. The football is better to watch. He can spot a good player. He appreciates the fans. He seems genuine and honest. He did have a pop at SISU. SISU pretty much admitted they caused us to be relegated with their business plan

The spell in which he did well was 10 games a honeymoon period. A good manager would still do well despite losing all those players. He actually likes SISU as anyone else would sack him. He lacks a plan B. He does not make subsitutions quick eneough. he is not experienced enough. He is too easy on the players. He does not come across well in the media. How can we do ok at home but not away that must be due to his managerial experience. He got Bell and Baker contract extensions.

Then we go round in circles debating all these points.

Is it fair to say if the club sign 7-12 (Depending on how many go out the door) experienced league one players with a mixture of decent premier league loanees then AT will have no excuse and can be judged purely on results as he will have a squad that is good enough to compete and should compete.

If however it is Murphy, Clarke, Bell, Cody, Baker, Hussey, Cameron, Dunn, Sheff and a further 19 players under the age of 20 then would it be fair to say that it is going to be pretty hard to judge AT and avoiding relegation would be a job well done?

For this season coming we are one of the favourites to go up.
Now as long as the squad is good enough to compete for promotion in league one, then I fully expect us to make the play offs.
If we don't then that would be a fail.
Big question is if the squad will be good enough to compete for promotion though.

As someone with some FA qualifications I think what the badges should give AT are alternative ways of thinking...... particularly ways of thinking as a coach or manager not an ex player..... there is a difference and not all players can or should be managers.

In particular it should help with the psychology of coaching and the ways he can consistently get the best out of all his players not just some. He will need to be adaptable, clear, focused and able to communicate well. Getting your badges is less about tactics and running around the training pitches ...... it is all about understanding the psychology and physiology in order to maximise performance. Yes AT is experienced but up until last year he was an experienced ex player with some scouting skills........ he still has a lot to learn before he is anywhere near an experienced coach or manager.

Assuming we do finally get some players in to have a decent League 1 squad in quality and numbers then for me if we struggle at the bottom of the division then sorry but AT is not the man to take us forward. Given that assumption then he has no where to hide this coming season.
