Am I missing something, why aren’t we looking at positive cases as a % of tests? Why can’t I find this data anywhere? Surely that omits the effect of having significantly more tests being done now?

A significant number, close to 50% of hospital admissions are women aged 20 -40.
Nothing to do with schools re-opening though .
It's about their workplaces and public facing roles?

I guess that they've been doing that for two or three months now is irrelevant?

I’m not the biggest Boris fan but imagine comrade Corbyn in charge dear me!!
Some quality trolling there direct from Conservative Party headquarters - you must have got a recent update through to deflect from the fact Comrade Boris (yes the one taking backhanders from Russian donors) has well and truly fucked it...... again.

Why don’t you go the whole hog and say it’s been a success because less people have died than in the Black Death.

It's a shame people didn't apply the same logic when Theresa May was in charge, and Johnson was lurking in the shadows...

Anyway, yesterday's announcement. Lots of how people have to follow the rules... but Cummings is still there. Any authority Johnson had on that just vanishes into the night air.

Reading between the lines of that statement, another lockdown is inevitable - it's just being positioned atm. Surely we'd all agree, regardless of whether we think a lockdown is right or not, then if you're going to do it, just do it rather than death by a thousand cuts.

Because at the very least she wouldn’t have ejected her senior, more experienced MP’s and she would have used their counsel to guide and advise her.
She'd have also done what she thought was right ahead of what's popular. Every other Prime Minister in my lifetime would have done that, even if what they thought was right would have differed.

About the only thing I can say is Johnson is a strong libertarian, so I do believe his reluctance to lock down is from a deep held belief, but they spend their life leaking to guage popularity first.

The aim is to keep the r rate just below 1 a lockdown is not inevitable as this spike was not inevitable. Germany and Italy are two examples of outbreaks but not exponential growth. Percentages of positive tests as opposed to tests is important. Something like 6-8% is not good. 5000 of 200000 is 4%! but anyone that believes we are doing 200000 a day needs to give their head a wobble

Just two weeks ago

Notice how the lines stop as the number of positive tests start to increase. I think matt Hancock would be all over the press and media saying I told you so if the percentage was still low.

Other things to consider are that only those in hospital or care homes or those working there were being tested initially and now it’s pretty difficult to get a test again.

I still can’t wrap my head around all the wannabe Yanks that rant about libruls are voting for probably the most liberal PM since Blair.

France have had thousands of cases a day for weeks now. However look at the death rate...

It's younger people, and the risk is when it (inevitably, if rates continue to rise) starts affecting older people, and those with health issues.

tbf, the only time to test if the virus weakens is when we're all catching it left, right and centre. But at the moment there's no evidence, as social conditions (being caught by younger and healthier people atm) and mitigation (i.e. wearing masks, so viral load reduced, social distancing etc) are all in play.

Actually, my main issue is that unless a test is 100% accurate, it could do more harm than good. 70k fans cleared for Old Trafford...

Might work via this as it did for me.

Yeah I saw that- the Moonshot tests will not be available on the NHS, she says that they are a "cost of doing business" and will therefore have to be paid for, apart from if you have symptoms in which case you'll get one for free

what a c**t that woman is.

No argument there.

However, Whilst I don't agree on it being a "consumer" product, I have no issue with business paying for it. Why shouldn't they if it enables them to increase their productivity & profitability.
In theory at least, it could also claw back some revenue to help pay for the public & NHS testing

Consumer will pay in the end.
