Got sent home from work yesterday as a mate I have been in contact with is a confirmed case, feel completely fine, no symptoms at all, sent my mum out for some food for me which she left on my door step (bless her). Second time in isolation now, got plenty to keep me occupied, I was looking at one of the lego sets (International space station) the other day for myself while I was looking for a gift. should give me a few hours of fun
It's said only 20% are isolating.
Here's a story .
From mate's wife.
Jacked her job last week at a Ball hill hair salon.
Boss came back from Spanish holiday didn't isolate went to work all week.
This week tested positive.
Another employee also has jacked after said boss messaged her to open up and not say anything.
Someone in my family has just been for a test.
Turnaround about 2-3 hrs from asking.
Here's a story .

The one thing I would say for shutting pubs is that it probably switches something in people’s minds. Lots of “if pubs are open why can’t I do X?” Type questions at the moment.
The student thing is funny. They can’t exactly go back on it now as you’re just getting a bunch of people infected then sending them round the country. They never should’ve opened them in the first place but the landlords wouldn’t have been happy.

Sounds about right.
I know of several examples of folks not isolating, & many more of students not isolating despite testing positive.
I know of a fella who isolated whilst caring for & sharing a bed with his Mrs. who was positive with bad symptoms...he never caught it!
I've also heard of people getting told incorrectly to isolate via the App due to bluetooth connecting through internal walls & ceilings etc.
Anyhow, its nearly that time of day...I'll be off shortly to get my winter coat on so I can stand 2 metres away from my mates in a windy wet beer garden for a few scoops.....probably be illegal up here next week.

This is good news at face value at least. Will be interesting to see more details of this as they become available.
The cynic in me is drawn to the phrase "firms forced to shut by law". How does that work for, as an example, a wedding venue who has had all their bookings postponed. Legally weddings can still happen but with limited numbers, would they be covered? And then of course how will they deal with the knock on effect. To use the same example there's no law stopping a florist working but if they are a wedding specialist they won't have any orders, are they included?

my sister has tested positive, got her results yesterday. A couple of days previous she text me and said it's becoming rife again. She's a nurse but doesn't work on the 'front line'. Looks after kids with complex care needs.

Yeah you cant send them back now, so they need to all be locked up.
Not sure why pubs are the scapegoat when infections are happening a lot more elsewhere.
How much has testing increased by?

Aren't some unis doing their own testing? If they're testing everyone then its not a surprise the numbers have shot up as we know there's loads of people who get it and don't show symptoms so would never normally get a test.
Although I'm not sure how many tests they can be doing given that it was only a couple of weeks ago it was being claimed the whole country had reached the capacity for processing tests and it would take weeks to add any more.

Indeed. And I've said all along that completely misses the fact, when children are generally OK, that others may not be. It's the same point.
What kind of madness is it that, currently, if your child is off school because the year is closed because of Covid, you as parent can still work and, if you have no choice in that matter, government will allow your parents, or grandparents, to look after your child in that period.
