It will never be resolved. Rightly or wrongly, to a person Palestinians have never accepted the post war situation, and which was railroaded on them by the USA, not the British. And rightly or wrongly, every time they have attacked the borders since that time the result has been the capture of more lands by a American-backed Israel to claim the need to have a ceasefire patch to protect their lands. But for sure, it has always been the PLF or Hamas at the heart of instigating the troubles. There are obvious parallels from history on our own doorstep.

I don't know the answers and have sympathy for both sides, but I do know that a sitting MP shouldn't be on the streets campaigning for 'inalienable rights' and which will surely stoke up trouble here, and elsewhere.

Rightly or wrongly, it is not all on the people living in squalor on a narrow strip of desert compared to a state with the backing of the most powerful country on the planet. And a state that threatened New Zealand with war for daring to criticise the West Bank settlements.

Both peoples have a right to recognition

The fascinating thing is Labour left wing members and politicians are far more invested in this conflict than any other on the planet and we all know why

Do you mean balanced in terms of warfare? Then, of course it's not.

When you are a people that seem to have no recourse to justice (and we do need to see the end to certain Israel injustices) then lobbing rockets over the wall is understandable. Indeed, Hamas have never stopped firing rockets over the Israel border, it's a week in week out occurrence in some parts. But when you fire on Tel Aviv, then Tel Aviv is going to have something to say back.

If France started raining missives on London tomorrow, you would simply want to allow the situation to continue in some kind of proportionate tit for tat? If I was in London, I'd say make them stop.
It’s like retaliating to a kid firing a catapult by using a trebuchet.

Are they? Saudi Arabia gets just as much criticism for the crimes in Yemen. Why is it not Islamophobic to criticise them?

Literally none of the lefty activists on my feed go marching around London criticising Saudi Arabia. Get the Jews involved and they can't get on the streets quick enough.

They’re living in a shithole with the Israelis blockading them and periodically killing civilians while illegally building in the West Bank. I want the violence on both sides to stop but for it to also be permitted to criticise Israel without being called anti Semitic

Zarah Sultana is not the entire Labour Party, any more than the vile Kaczynski is the entire Tory Party. Why is it we never hear of Islamophobia being rife in a party where 40% of the members don’t want a brown leader?

I feel It all kinda suit's Netanyahu who once again can't form his own govt.

There is a political thought that Hamas have seen this as an opportunity amid the cancellation of the parliamentary elections. To be clear, this is not denying the Israeli expansionist policy that has occurred, much of which has been promoted by US orthodox Jews. But did Hamas start the current exchange, they did

Agree regards the land grab, though the killings are usually retaliation. But neither do I want my MP to be raising the political profile of a terrorist organisation and then blaming Israeli for the bombings.

I confess I have sympathies for Irish republicanism, but I didn't agree with the inland bombings.

Likewise, I haven't forgiven whoever it was on the Palestinian side for having caused me to break three bottles of really good wine when I ran to a shelter back in 85 when shopping in Masada.

So you think a resolution and peace is necessary (which we all do) but there is no desire in the UK and US administrations to push for this. Why would that be the case??

Well she isn’t my MP but it levels out the great work she did challenging school reopening earlier in the year. It must be a 2 state solution where Israel respectfully withdraw the illegal settlers and Hamas are de-militarised while recognising Israel’s right to exist.

Picking a side helps nobody

I’ve been to the West Bank and it’s shocking. It’s a ghetto, in the truest sense of the word. Locked in the West Bank, allowed to go in and out for work. I was on a tour ran by Israelies and they used it as a propaganda exercise. Justifying illegal settlements on the bases of they build nicer homes than the Palestinians. It was mental, like you were supposed to go yeah fuck em the scruffy cunts. God knows what the Gaza Strip must be like, it’s one of the most densely populated places in the world.

Things probably haven't changed since the war, in terms of Britain sitting at the knees of the US and enjoying a 'special relationship'. The British looked for a land for dispossessed Jews from the war, but limited in number and with a tightly restricted land covenant. The US had a very strong Jewish political lobby, and railroaded Britain into massively increasing the numbers and the legitimization of a Jewish state. It was less the Jewish terrorism against Britain's forces that forced Britain's hand, much more the need for cold hard cash to rebuild after the war.

Britain is no longer part of the answer - it's down to the US and the Arab states.

Close friend of mine went to build houses with a charity there. Israel bulldozed then for settlements

I think Rabin was the last Israeli PM to have a real go at finding a solution including the Oslo accord. Cost him his life. Such a shame because it brought real hope to the region for a brief period of time.

Never been to that part of the world but as long as Israel is in the grip of Netanyahu it won't change
