It was 113 out of 52,000, but only 3,500 had been vaccinated (and only 500 of them had been vaccinated 3 weeks before they got Covid)

OK, I might sound thick here so I'm sorry.

How many of the vaccinated 3500 died

yeah, I wondered if they might end up just tweaking some of the 21 June removal of restrictions ie allow certain events but maybe with a requirement for negative tests pre event
All the test events have required a negative test for entry and some level of mask wearing & distancing, although as we've seen from televised games there's a decent percentage of people who seem incapable of wearing a mask properly if at all.

In the next round of testing some events drop the mask wearing & distancing but the data from those won't be known until after 21 June. For example Download is a test event and takes place 18 - 20 June with a post event test required in the week following the event. How can they use that data to decide if its safe to remove restrictions on 21 June?

That would lead me to believe that testing and / or vaccine passports are in the plans for when restrictions are removed otherwise the test event data is useless but the Telegraph (Daily not CET) report today that plans for that have been scrapped.

Seen a couple of interesting ticketing systems introduced in the US. One is that the better seats at the front are reserved for those who are prepared to confirm they are vaccinated with an area at the rear of the venue for those who haven't been vaccinated or won't confirm their status which maintains mask wearing & distancing. Another was where tickets are the usual $20 price if you provide proof of vaccination, if you couldn't or wouldn't they are £1,000!

I haven’t been to the supermarket since November for fear that someone on here will collar me for not being 2m apart at all times.

I took my mask off upon leaving Asda on Friday and a women looked at me like I'd just taken a dump in her trolley

To be honest the articles I read are clear as mud so I'm not sure!

I think it's saying 113 of 3500 died. But as I say it's really not clear.

Will try and the actual report as that should be clearer!
Was just looking for the actual report but haven't found it yet, assume it is publicly available somewhere.

Hard to tell from reading news reports as this makes it sound like 113 out of the 526 vaccinated died, as bad as my maths is that definitely isn't 0.22%
among just over 52,000 hospitalised COVID-19 patients studied, 526 had been vaccinated with a first dose of either the AstraZeneca or Pfizer shot at least three weeks earlier. Of those, 113 died.

That means 1% of those vaccinated were hospitalised

How likely is it that by September I’d be able to visit without having to quarantine if I’ve been fully vaccinated?
They all just have to adopt the passport ,or tests for those who are not jabbed.
I guess it depends what hybrid variants are knocking about then SB .

So hardly anybody is dying now?

As I said, there will just be new mutations all the time. Headlines that it's a triple thread whammy mutation, people shit themselves and we keep restrictions.

So it's 113 of 520 or is it still 113 of 52000 but most hadn't been vaccinated ?

Or is it 113 of 3500 vaccinated (confused )

It’s actually when you read it neither what it’s trying to say is of the sample hospitalised 0.2% died which is significantly lower than the norm in that sample of 52,000 so the deduction is the vaccine reduced deaths by 80% over the normal rate

On those raw figures it's around 0.2% .
Which is between 2.5 to 5 time's lower than initial outbreak of 0.5% to 1%.
Seemingly about twice that of flu

I see it as meaning that out of 52,000 hospital patients, only 500 of those had received at least one dose. Of the vaccinated who went to hospital, 100 died. It shows to me brilliant protection against serious illness.

It was a bit disappointing to read that pfizer wasn't too effective after the one dose, the one going into arms currently.

Think the point I'm making is the current rush out in current hotspots won't bare fruit for around 10-11 weeks.

My frustration with reporting such as this (and particularly the BBC making it their headline too) is although the scientist is a member of Sage, every article I've read containing their view is very pro lockdown. Which is fine, that's their view.

However, for the purposes of balance, where are the quotes from other scientists? Or figures showing small deaths from the vaccinated?

It's a bit like if the BBC only ever reported the Doves view of the BoE monetary policy and ignoring the Hawks.

FWIW, I don't see how a '3rd wave' can happen due to the number of vaccinations and those that have already had Covid. Small clusters yes due to societal make up of certain areas but enough circuit breakers now to stop a mass spread. Could of course be bollocks as I haven't read that anywhere, but would be nice to have the chance to!

Think it’s looking more and more likely that restrictions won’t all be lifted on the 21st. Whilst I don’t think we’re going to end up tightening the ones already released I think it’s prudent to just hold fire another month and see where we are.

Vaccines are only 33% effective after one dose. We really need all adults to have been offered both doses to confidently say were out of the woods.

The opening of travel restrictions looks more and more irresponsible.

How many times do we need to make the same mistake?
