I think being in the Lords gives you more freedom to not tow the line. Most of the moderates have been removed after the necessity to pledge allegiance to Boris and his Brexit deal at the last election.

Southgate said that we were taking the knee to show solidarity against racism. People got all wound up saying it was wrong, people should be allowed to boo, and it had a different agenda. Racism shows it’s ugly head after the football and all of a sudden the same people are saying what a disgrace racism is, or have just gone strangely quiet. Now everyone sees what the knee is against and I hope it stays from now on.

I'm not sure people see it any differently, and I don't think it's going to stop the trolling anytime soon. Not sure what the answer is though, other that some very clever technology that prevents the online abuse before it is posted.

Yes I agree with that in terms of the online stuff.

I guess I’m saying that people are finally being called out. The Sun with a huge headline saying “we’ve got your back” just days after running a column calling taking the knee “virtue signalling baloney” and “a grotesque woke pantomime”. People are seeing through it more, I mean we have football players embarrassing politicians now, that’s got to be a good thing when it comes to this type of thing.

It’s always this though.

People don’t exist in a vacuum. Messaging from authority figures and community leaders matters.

Let’s be honest a bunch of grifters, sadly including many of our current govenrment, decided to shit stir about stuff they don’t actually believe for clout and to grab the racist vote. They don’t then get to Pearl clutch about said racists.

Weirdly enough, there don't seem to be many technological barriers for social media companies stopping copyrighted material being uploaded/swiftly taken down, but apparently racist slurs and emoji are just too sophisticated for them to stop.

Posted something similar on twitter recently. Try posting a copywriten song or video and it soon gets taken down. I've even had things taken off YouTube that I have the copyright for!

No way they can't stop racism and other dodgy shit that is on social media, they just can't be bothered.

Even when you report something nothing happens, its an automated process that basically ignores your complaint and you only see action when a large number of people report the same thing.

Though seeing said grifters trying to get on the band wagon as the team progressed was one of the hilights of the tournament.

I see GBeebies News has upset its viewers by attacking the racists. Bit too woke for its audience! Maybe Andrew Neil is a Marxist

This guy saw it differently

He’s apparently part of a “think” tank that advises the government. According to some sources.

I had looked for that link following it being on live, good discussion I thought. Didn't care to much for Bragg's use of ad hominems and his derogatory behaviour - he went down in my estimation. The presenter acted similarly on occasions. I thought Calvin Robisnon spoke a lot of sense, even though I think the 'knee' debate is behind us now.

Billy Bragg does that side of the argument no favours, comes across like he knows more than anyone else, patronising and a bit aggressive, I don’t like the man.

That’s why the knee is so powerful- hardcore left wing warriors bang on for years and just turn the general public off, but then 11 ‘dense footballers’ make a simple gesture for a few seconds without even opening their mouths, and it does more good, creates more awareness and makes racists way more uncomfortable than 100 Billy Bragg lectures ever could.

People like Billy Bragg talk & drone on- people switch off, footballers take the knee- the whole country takes notice and starts talking.

Something the left never gets: first get people to like you, *then* push your politics.

Unions worked because they existed in peoples lives solving real problems before they said vote Labour.

You know I did wonder if this guy was ROS. Very very similar. On a serious note I was mildly concerned about his sudden disappearance so hopefully it is.

Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

The only concern would be if he was stuck up his own backside and couldn’t get his swollen head out of it

It’s definitely him - at least he’s not lying about his age this time - like Rupert he seems to need to regenerate his username every so often.
