I think that’s overblown too! Mostly foreign accounts and kids.

But I’m neither taking the knee nor slating those who are for political gain then supporting them also for political gain. Patel and Grimes both are. So I’ll call out their hypocrisy and naked politicking.

To be clear. No one should be racist or homophobic or misogynistic or whatever online.

But equally, they shouldn’t be the focus.

I’d rather focus on the massive support our country has shown for the lads especially when contrasted with how we behaved when England missed pens previously. What an amazing example of societal progress.

If Johnson and Patel and the rest of the culture warriors just went “yeah that was stupid well done England sorry for not backing you” it would all go away, but instead they’ve got to double down.

The anti take the knee people backed the wrong horse and need to take it on the chin.

Which goes straight back to my original and only point. Grimes does himself no favours when he is 100% guilty of doing what he’s now complaining of being a victim off.

And Darren grimes is a much bigger part of the problem than Marcus Rashford. That doesn’t mean that people should go around abusing Darren Grimes but with social media as it is, a LOT more people are going to have sympathy with Marcus Rashford than Darren Grimes, that is the reality.

Don't know if he made any. David Starkey did when he Grimes interviewed him though, Grimes never pulled him up about it and was gushing about Starkey at the end, if he'd had his school desk there he'd have probably knocked one out.

I have an overarching theory which is that we have a limited number of people we are built to be in contact with (around 150) and after that we have to create generalisations to interact with people.

Genie is out the bottle now. All we can do is learn how to live with it and IMO part of that is not blowing small percentages out of proportion.

I don’t think anyone thought too hard about it TBH. And the early internet with its filter for only smart techy people allowed basically gave a false impression of hope for the platform. 90s internet was all utopian and “leaving meatspace” and all that crap. Once the great unwashed came on all hell broke loose.
