The reality is some people have died from the vaccine , small risk or not they have died .

You force somebody to have it against their will and they die ..then what do we call that ?

Not gonna happen

There is. One instruction is ‘don’t put this in your body’, the other is ‘you must put this in your body’. I’ve said above I can see the huge problems if we have a large group of players out due to infection. And we end up in Rotherham’s situation.

But there are no instructions, who’s saying that?

It’s their choice, but if they go against all of the medical info, don’t, then end up missing games, weakening the team, that’s a problem.

Not getting surgery for an ACL and letting it heal on its own versus coronavirus and the vaccine is another apples and oranges comparison.

Plenty of countries and industries in western civilisation do not mandate vaccines. That is completely incorrect. We already had this discussion on the off-topic thread and several posters ended up disappearing with their tails between their legs.

The principle is the same - you’re welcome to fend for yourself in recovering from a torn ACL or avoiding a case of COVID, or to spurn treatment which is scientifically proven to improve your chances of a full recovery. But you do so at the risk of your own health and I don’t think you deserve much sympathy if you wilfully ignore the science in doing so.

As for mandatory vaccines - I don’t think you’re correct I’m afraid. Take Europe, for example: Mandatory vaccinations in European countries, undocumented information, false news and the impact on vaccination uptake: the position of the Italian pediatric society - Italian Journal of Pediatrics

Were there not some others above suggesting fines or similar? I agree with you it’s a problem if it leads to them missing games down the line.

Oh yeah, that’s true- but I don’t think anyone is demanding that the players are instructed to get vaccinated, although the premier league seems to be doing that

Then I was less aiming my point at you and more at those who think we should sanction unvaccinated players. They could even go full circle and promote a player getting jabbed who was previously sceptical to encourage more in Cov to receive it.

Can we just take a moment out of this to collectively rage at the £8 charged for cheesy chips at the ‘Anecdote’.

Sunderland only charge £1 FFS

There's no way that will sustain itself .. and anybody paying 8 pound for cheesy chips needs to question their sanity

I've seen some shite on this forum, but this is well up there.

Yeah, they were, and shaming people for not wanting it, thinking that it would somehow increase the vaccination effort. When not everyone has agreed they've backed down a bit though.

Nobody should be forced to take a vaccination.. and nobody should be punished for not having a vaccination either .
I've had mine , I think it's best if people have it , it's completely wrong to force it on people

You don’t think footballers should have to take basic precautions to look after themselves?

No one is saying punish them for not taking the vaccine. But if they intentionally make themselves unavailable then they shouldn’t get paid for the job. Same as if they refused to train all summer and came in two stone over weight or if they refused to quit smoking IMO. This isn’t a culture war thing it’s just my opinion on how footballer contracts should work.

Every vaccination carries some risk however small ..

I get vaccinated every year with the flu jab , and I've had both covid jabs ...it's a risk I was willing to take ..through CHOICE .

everybody should be given the choice its quite simple

Training carries a risk, and a significantly higher one. Should we not fine players who don’t turn up? Silly argument.

You’re just up in arms about this because it’s a culture war thing.

We are all grown ups... you choose if you want to inject yourself or not.
It´s the old alpha/beta mindset at play, you either take control of yourself or you let others take control of you.
Not exactly rocket science....

You’re literally letting others control you. Either by always doing the opposite of advice because you’re a contrarian or by listening to loons. You aren’t a free thinking alpha Darren, you’re a dipshit.

I liken this to jobs I’ve had where I’ve been told to cut my hair, not dye my hair, remove piercings, etc.

I could have chosen to leave all those jobs and kept my personal choices or not. I decided for example teaching was more important to me than keeping my piercing.

No one forced me to remove my piercing. It’s a choice I made.

Yeah but perhaps no one wanted to see that particular piercing...

It's nothing to do with culture war what on earth are you talking about , have you lost the plot ... People should be given a choice ...it's as simple as that

You don't force people to do something they don't want to do

Everybody gets a choice

I'm not sure that you can dismiss the arguments around bodily autonomy by just calling everyone a dipshit.

For a healthy 20 year old to refuse the vaccine isn't necessarily because they're being contrarian or listening to crazies, it might be simply that they've concluded that they don't need it. Which would be true. The same reason we don't vaccinate young adults against flu. The risks fall somewhere below being swallowed by a sink hole or finding somewhere decent to eat in Bedworth.

Vaccinating healthy young people is not about protecting them, it is about protecting others. That's a different thing. And yes, you can then talk about social responsibility, especially given the job they do, and I'd have sympathy with that and I'm surprised that some appear to be refusing it. That said, no need to name call, there is a debate to be had here.

Mark robins is saying the same as I've said , he must be involved in the culture war .

They aren't going to force people as its their choice, he'd like them to have it though .

Who would have thought Mark robins was in on this culture war nonsense 🤣

Fuck me a coffee is needed , some people really have lost their minds

Have mixed views. Know someone who had a really bad allergic reaction to a jab in the past where they had to call an ambulance etc. Think he will eventually get the jab but is understandably scared. Also, the distrust from certain communities is understandable.

That being said, although it's a "personal choice", the level of vaccine take-up will effect the outcome for everyone. So in that regard, it's not a completely personal choice - effects us all.

I love it when people infer that they are an "alpha male" on the internet, proper gives me the horn.

The level of vaccination uptake is down to personal choice completely.. and if its not and somebody has been forced to have it to keep there job , then we are setting a dangerous precedent.

That's not how we do things .

It's not like a haircut or a piercing like some have suggested , it's the basic human right to be able to say yes or no

100% it's down to personal choice - I'm just here recognising the fact that someone's personal choice actually effects all of us!

Basically, the vaccination program will not be successful if not enough people have them is all 🙂

If you believe the vaccine is dangerous somehow then it would be a terrible thing to say, yes.
Perhaps the players in question do think it's dangerous. Perhaps the last time I looked we still live in a free country and it's their right to choose what they put in their bodies.

Why? There’s absolutely no reason to be.
Unbelievable

I've had my jabs but don't sit on the side of forcing people , there's not alot else to say really ..
