Walker (9 Viewers)

Peterborough? I think they tried to sign him before

yes that’s one that very much springs to mind. Preston Hull or even a club coming up like Sunderland - he’s a goal every other game forward. Play 46 games he’s scoring 20

no Godden is fine but of course Walker would attract more interest - top scorer last season two in two this season younger and a good pedigree through the leagues.

Unfortunately fans tend not to like players like him. So he will be moved on and there certainly will be interest

I'd say in the past players like walker were fine , the best teams defend from the front and in today's game its necessary to have your forwards work extremely hard .. this is why Walker doesn't play as often as some think he should.

Surely you can see this ?

It's not about bimbling around and waiting for the through ball or the loose ball anymore .

It’s amazing how sticking up for Walker against the boo boys turns into ‘hating Godden’.

The arguments put across make no sense though ?
His overall contribution to the team isn't sufficient enough to keep playing him , hence why we try and play vik every single game.. he works extraordinarily hard and has scored alot of goals already ...

Unless he was rested , which I doubt as we've now got a week off .. why else has Robins dropped him as soon as he could?

Agree with the fans tending to prefer players who try hard rather than having quality - but Walker just struggles at this level, his fitness and pressing not up to it, his hold up play isn’t good enough, on the ball he looks slow, and not particularly quick nor strong and aggressive. Clearly a more than decent finisher though. If we were a better side he might do well, but too much of a luxury player in my view.

Could 100% see why people were losing patience with him y’day. I don’t think it’s his fault, just the way he plays, but with that in mind I don’t think he’s at this level, yet.

We defend from the front, it means the front 3 need to press and work hard when we don’t have the ball.
Look how hard Man City work when they lose the ball.
I know some of you think good players don’t have to run around ( headless chickens seems to be the favourite term). But the simple fact is that in our system they do.
Walker obviously doesn’t work hard enough for Robins.
I watched him when he came on yesterday, if he hadn’t got the ball he wasn’t interested. He had 25 minutes to impress, he walked off fresher than when he came on.
I like the kid and there is definitely a player in there, but he has got a apply himself better.

Then why bring him on if that’s what he thinks?

Kazim Richards could barely move and caused problems. Mitrovic isn’t renowned for work rate

And Derby aren't a top team ... and you say that yet per 90 mitrovic has double the ball recoveries of Walker, wins more aerial battles and has won more ground duels .. he still works harder than Walker but not quite as hard as vik

well Maatsen has more tackles than tbe entire universe apparently

wasn’t it the Middlesbrough game last season where Robins moaned at Walker for spending all his time trying to tackle on midfield rather than stay up front?

I'm not sure buddy , some stats indicate workrate , o hare is always extremely high on these stats .. Walker is currently below godden on these metrics .

If Walker worked harder , alot harder , he'd be a hell of a player and I'd be with you

Maybe wrong, but I haven’t seen a single person say they hate Godden, and I haven’t seen anyone accusing anyone else of hating Godden

Evo just has and US when vaguely coherent has though it’s hard to comprehend what that lunatic is on about

I semi did tbh , probably a bit premature , it's coming

He has 9 goals in 41 Championship games for us - if you make him the main man I think he’s capable of 15 over a season.

Clarke Harris has scored 2 from the spot like Godden

and he’s only started 23

Well then I stand corrected. And you’re right, this will end up as a silly battle, it’s coming.

I like both of them, I think Godden adds more to the overall team. I’m amazed it’s not obvious but everyone has their own views. Different players, Godden suits us more at the moment.

Undoubtedly Walker would fetch more in the transfer market but that’s as much to do with age & potential as it is performances, it’s not the barometer to use in terms of deciding who’s better starting matches.

I also think we’re lucky to have both.

Is there any truth or rumour going around that Walker is unsettled or is it presumptions?

He has, but he's their main man ?

He's had a lacklustre start

I would've started Walker with Waghorn yesterday

Mentally they wouldve wanted to prove a point, being Forest fan and ex Derby player respectively. Also Walker scoring 2 in 2 should've been enough to warrant a start

Godden played well yesterday but Gyo looks to still be injured and could've done with a rest

We could've won yesterday but again Robins got it wrong tactically including the subs

What has happened happened against QPR .

we ended up with godden and Walker uptop together that game and completely lost the ability to hold the ball up and it kept coming back .

Godden off for Allen and move to the box was the sub.

Sheaf didn’t need to go off either. I kind of get the reasoning, bring on Kelly to toughen it up, but this week wasn’t Kelly’s finest and we needed the extra body rather than a different one

Vik definitely looks to be carrying , Robins has got it wrong over the last couple matches certainly

For me Walker is clearly a better player but he's not a good fit in our side. Think it's best for everyone if he moves on and I'm sure he'll stay the Championship and do well.
