Oh yes I have a job alright and Guess what - it’s going very well
One day when that job isn't going very well you might well detest people who only care about themselves and their immediate family. No one else.

No im not consumed with bitterness and jealousy - if it fails it’s my fault and i will own it but bleat about others when it’s people’s own responsibility to set their destiny

Seriously at this point if you’re still planning to vote Tory you should probably have all sharp objects taken away for your own safety.

If only we had a functioning opposition who didn't want to become a tribute band for the Tories.

Yes that worked so well 2015-19 let’s do that again. Maybe we can break the record for lowest number of opposition MPs.

Your problem isn’t the Labour Party, it’s the U.K. electorate and I’m not sure what you want to do about that.

It worked fine but they made 2 catastrophic errors - Salisbury and Brexit. But they did far more to hold the government to account than this current iteration of the Labour Party.

Always find this a slightly odd response. I mean pre-2015 wasn't exactly a stunning success.

Anyway some good news for a change for Labour supporters.

Its not odd. The public want someone focused on decent public services and reducing crime. Milliband wasn’t that either.

We can whine that that shouldn’t be what they want or that they don’t understand our awesome solution thag they don’t like, or we can give them what they want and get the right to govern and do the stuff we want to do.

I personally don’t think still being behind this shit show is good news TBH. If there was a decent challenger to Starmer who could get the public on board I’d be behind a leadership change right now. I don’t think he’s got it in him and I’m not sure my previous stance of “give him an election” is wise.

I think we need to stop kidding ourselves about 2017. Brexit handed us half the country on a plate against the worse Tory election campaign in history and we still lost.

I’ll stop when you stop kidding yourself that Starmer is competent 😉

the facts are dumbo the Webbe case was raised first and Ian changed the subject

he was tried and convicted so that’s process

I vote Tory as it gives me the lifestyle that suits me and my family and a labour government would personally disadvantage me so actually if you really want the brutal truth I don’t give a flying fuck about him the acid chucker or anyone else

I care about me the people whose jobs rely on me and my immediate family. No one else

Grendel just states what everyone knew already - he's selfish.

Webbe was re-brought up as an attempt to deflect after someone mentioned Paterson.

Webbe was also tried and convicted so that's process. Only the party didn't let her back in during the interim.

And if your defence is that the party gives you the lifestyle and future you want so thus excuses them of any wrongdoing in your eyes then the same argument can be used by anyone who supports another party that it will lead to the kind of lifestyle and future they want and so they can let them off.

You never stop do you? Not matter how corrupt or hopeless the Tories are you have to come out with this.

By the way the problem with Labour was Corbyn's implicit support for Brexit, and failure to put the positive case for staying in the EU. But hey carry on letting this Government off the hook by saying Starmer is worse.

Im on my own. Ha ha against you and the handful on SBT who care. Wow. I’m backed in a corner I’m scared what’s going to happen - are you sending me to a special place to be re educated

I think it's being discussed beyond the confines of this board! Johnson has backed down for supporting the changes and we know full well he follows the tide of popular opinion when he thinks it might make unpopular.

There are plenty of other websites and forums on all sorts of topics you can join if you want to be laughed at and ridiculed even more.

Disastrous incompetence on covid with one of the highest death rates in the world; dreadful abandoned of our allies in Afganistan, fuel crisis, corruption, sleaze, all from the worst Government in our lifetime.

'But I don't like Starmer...' is your line on this. Grendel and his ilk love this stuff.

I think most of them involve women in leather and charge a fee though.

I have to disagree. Tories won by a landslide because they supported Brexit. If anything Corbyn's problem was that he didn't stick by it fervently enough and sat on the fence and thus impressed nobody. A tactic that Starmer seems to have extended to every singe topic.

The irony is I think he would be a competent PM. What he is is an incompetent Leader of the Opposition

Too weak.

We need a leader willing to take on the activist base in the same way Kinnock took on the militant tendency. Then someone with the same ruthless focus on voters and getting elected as Blair had.

Can't agree. If the public want to stay in the EU then a party will put a second referendum in their manifesto and they'll romp the next election but it won't happen.

I'm fervently anti Brexit but I wouldn't vote for a party with that as a policy.

As for Starmer, he just doesn't do it for a lot of us Im afraid, and it's possible to take that position and still think the tories are corrupt, useless wankers.

Fair play for posting this. I may not agree with your method of selecting who you vote for but at least there's a reason behind it that makes sense. For your sake I hope Conservative policy genuinely does advantage you as I'm not sure the same can be said for everyone who votes for them on the same basis.

Im being laughed at but I’m not supporting a bunch of losers - cool story - what’s funny is you think anyone in the wider world takes this socialist twaddle seriously

For the record I actually support the change the government were suggesting it’s long overdue but the timing clearly was not ideal

Unless you’re a Russian oligarch or property developer I’m genuinely not sure which constituency is better off with a party that tanks wages and growth.

Yep. One thing we need is the ability for MP's to have their influence bought by self-interested rich people without this country or it's people interests at heart

Maybe one day you'll realise it's not worth winning if the prize is a massive pile of shit. The prize we'll eventually get for continuing down the unsustainable road of growth and greed will be suffering and extinction. If the wider world don't take that seriously it's probably the best outcome anyway.

Everyone used to think the world was flat. And the sun went around the Earth. They used to think every living creature was created by intelligent design. People that argued differently were at best laughed at, at worst persecuted, but they were right. If you want to look stupid so you can be on Team Popular Opinion then go right ahead.

You do realise Labour have actually won general elections when they were a credible alternative?

Stop being disingenuous. I’m not letting anyone off the hook and you know it.
And as for making a case to stay post referendum - an utterly foolish move. Labour should have focused on offering the best possible exit, not trying overturn the result.
