It worked fine but they made 2 catastrophic errors - Salisbury and Brexit. But they did far more to hold the government to account than this current iteration of the Labour Party.

Its not odd. The public want someone focused on decent public services and reducing crime. Milliband wasn’t that either.

We can whine that that shouldn’t be what they want or that they don’t understand our awesome solution thag they don’t like, or we can give them what they want and get the right to govern and do the stuff we want to do.

I personally don’t think still being behind this shit show is good news TBH. If there was a decent challenger to Starmer who could get the public on board I’d be behind a leadership change right now. I have to disagree. Tories won by a landslide because they supported Brexit. If anything Corbyn's problem was that he didn't stick by it fervently enough and sat on the fence and thus impressed nobody. A tactic that Starmer seems to have extended to every singe topic.

Can't agree. If the public want to stay in the EU then a party will put a second referendum in their manifesto and they'll romp the next election but it won't happen.

I'm fervently anti Brexit but I wouldn't vote for a party with that as a policy.

As for Starmer, he just doesn't do it for a lot of us Im afraid, and it's possible to take that position and still think the tories are corrupt, useless wankers.

And as for making a case to stay post referendum - an utterly foolish move. Labour should have focused on offering the best possible exit, not trying overturn the result.
