I have an email telling me nobody receives priority or guaranteed tickets. That came directly from the club. Didn't believe it then and don't believe it now.

How often do tickets sell out within an hour of going on sale? Can't be that common and certainly not before this season.
Probably more opportunity to make changes over the summer, can imagine it was pretty hectic last summer with covid and the stadium move.
They should bring back the away season tickets for those that want to go to every away game.

Why they existed is irrelevant. The pertinent matter is that 8000 P1 memberships existed and once they'd been sold, they'd been sold. If you missed out tough. When the 2000 P2 memberships same thing. ST holders are given priority over others for non-ST games etc and this is the same principle. You pay for the right to be at the front of the queue for tickets.
I can't see why you're so against the idea seeing as it would give the club income from away games where they currently get nothing. Is it just because you'd be worried you might not get one?

Not against that idea but you'd definitely have to limit it to the lowest away allocation just in case as you would be guaranteeing them a ticket, whereas a membership would just be giving preferential rights in the buying process. Also when pricing up you'd maybe have to guess what other clubs will charge as the information might not be available when you put them on sale. Again, I'd go a bit above the expected so that the club can get income from the away sales.
These are problems that other clubs that have success have to contend with all the time - waiting lists for season tickets, sell-outs home and away. Sadly, it's the nature of the beast. Money talks and I'll bet there are people who watched Man C for years, even in the dark days of league one, that now struggle to get tickets.
It's just that we've had so little to get excited about for so long we take it for granted that we can get tickets pretty much when we want them.

Yes - but if we're talking about 1,000 (or whatever away memberships) that's a joke number. A number of fans can afford to pay for an equivalent away ST guarantee, and probably would. Pre-Cov-id I'd have probably gone to about 8-10 away games each season (I'd do more, but have other family commitments) I know a fair few who go to all/90% of all away games. They would all find the money for a 'guarantee', but there will be more demand than supply, and you'd still get a few hoovered by CCFC echelons (which I have no issue with). If it helped the club and they sold some sort of away loyalty/privilege scheme, I'd probably buy one, as I could afford it, and I'd hate to mis out on certain games. I suppose at the end of the day, there will always be the odd couple of games a season where there is barely any away allocation and this sort of thing will occur. Vaguely remember Exeter away when they gave us an allocation of around 300 due to stadium works??

No, I don't. But if I did I'd clearly be interested in buying something that would give me priority in doing so. If they sold out before I'd got hold of one then that's tough shit for me.
Places that sell out regularly do memberships. The RSC has a membership scheme where you pay a fee and it gives you priority access to tickets but does not guarantee you one. It's a common thing among popular attractions.

That's cool , but as I've already stated , a points based system is far superior and doesn't punish the supporters more for traveling away every other week with an extra cost .
It would only work out value for money for probably 2/3 matches a season and it's basically just handing the club money
Forest as an example have 2500 members , yet their average is below that , its free money for the club

As has been pointed out, the club get nothing from away tickets. You pay the booking and admin fees on top of ticket prices, paying out yet more money on top of the actual ticket price. Are you complaining about that 'con'? At least with a membership you'd actually be buying something - the right to have first priority.

And then you can make the strategic and economic decision not to buy one, if you think that the vast majority of the time you'd get a ticket just don't buy a membership and take your chances. Or if you want that piece of mind get one. I'm not suggesting it'd be a fortune. £20-25.
Besides, given that the club don't get any income for away tickets but incur the admin costs etc of acquiring, selling and distributing the tickets it's actually costing the club money to sell it to you. So all you'd be helping do is cover those costs. And would it be that bad to give the club that tiny bit extra to help?

As Evo has said, points based system is the logical step and I think off the back of this, and any potential (although unlikely) route into the Premier League it very clearly needs to be addressed. None of this 'paying more money for a membership'. I didn't stand on a bin at Forest Green to be able to see the pitch, for some guy with more money to come in and sweep my place because we're now fashionable.
It wouldn't take much to apply points, as someone said above. You receive a certain amount of points for having a season ticket. A certain amount of points for an appealing/local away day, more points for going to Hartlepool away in the 1st round of the League Cup on a Tuesday night etc. This also allows those who can't commit to a ST but can make other away games to accumulate points. This would clearly need to be backdated. If we were to get promoted, it would cause outrage for those who have been to shithole grounds in League 2, missing out because someone who's jumped on the bandwagon wants to go to Stamford Bridge etc. The Club have been decent at rewarding loyalty recently, and hopefully will take this upon themselves.

That's the point though, people would only pay who would utilise it. The club could offer something in reward to it for one game.
To get the membership, you must have gone to a certain number of away games this season. It's all doable. You reward fans for their support this season.
