But there's no reason to not do a points based system and then you don't need to charge fans a fee for the luxury of travelling thousands of miles a season , which already costs a fortune

Or I'm looking at it from a neutral position whereas you have a personal vested interest in how the tickets are allocated.

I can see your point of view (I actually agree with it on a personal level) but economically it's a shit opinion. The club gain nothing from doing so and they'd be missing out on a potential income stream. We live in a society where money rules everything, and football seems to be especially so. If we don't maximise every income stream possible we're at a disadvantage and that's eventually going to show on the pitch. Fact is, if we can sell large quantities of away tickets gaining income from a scheme giving access to them is something the club has to look into.

This season we're charging more for some games than others because they expect them to have higher demand. Is it right that it will cost 50% more to watch Sheffield United than Millwall when it's still 90 minutes of football in the same stadium? Or is it a con to take even more money out of fans pockets? Last game against Huddersfield at this point could cost £20. It could also cost £30. Price hasn't been set yet depending on what happens over the season. It's still going to be the same game of football so if they could potentially sell it for £20 why would they be charging £30 if not for the sole reason to get more money out of the fans?

I don't like it, but it's the way it is.

That's where the club would reward the fans with something.

It's an option. The points system is a comparable idea.

There's clubs that sell away memberships are there are those that do points. I see fans of both complain. Just like Blues fans and their points system.

I live 120 miles away and a couple of weeks ago had someone come up and talk to me about a particular player that they knew (I was a saddo wearing my hoodie). Won’t mention the player but this person said that they were going to Bmouth. When I said “good luck getting a ticket” he simply said that the player will get it for them.

not a problem with that at all as players deserve to have friends / family but I just hope that these don’t come out of the official amount as advertised to normal fans. Ie Bmouth officially gave us 1300 but in reality maybe 1200 ?

But the club would already be rewarding me with a points system , there absolutely no need for the charge ontop

The club gain an average of 1900 fans travelling away from home backing their team , they don't need to charge them extra for the luxury .

It's for 2 matches a season , we already paying

2x adult ST
2 x JSB
£200 Parking at the ricoh
£500 average fuel to travel away
£1000 average for 23 tickets away for 4 people
Wear and tear on vehicle as its cheaper than coaches

We don't want more costs

We are approaching 3000 pound already following city with a few coffees and food

That's without the

3x full kits for the kids

It isn't necessary for the club to charge the best part of £50 for a shirt - they could sell it cheaper. It's not necessary for them to charge £30 for some games and £20 for others. But they do. Because they're a business and they need to make money. And the fact is if a business has an option that will make them money and another that won't they choose the one that makes money. Because if they don't they're leaving themselves at a disadvantage to their competitors. It's a shit system, but it's the one our society runs by.

I find it weird that a supporter is advocating a system that charges fans more money to watch their club when it doesn't have to happen .

A supporter that doesn't even travel away himself ,should be added

They don't need to charge an extra £10 for games like Sheffield for the luxury but you're not up in arms about that.

From the perspective of a fan I agree with you about rewarding dedication.

From the perspective of the club it's not sensible. If a commercial manager when into a board meeting and said "right, we can make some extra money by charging a premium for access to something that's heavily in demand, but I've decided not to do that and just give it to previous customers" you'd be looking at an ex-commercial manager.

This is a wonderful problem to have.

Tonked 5-0 at Luton but still demand exceeds supply.

I have no idea how to fix the issue, but it's much better than the alternative of widespread apathy to awaydays.

I missed out, but I can now legitimately use that as an excuse for getting out of the usual Boxing Day bollocks and booking up for Cardiff.

I do actually factor in priority for away games when buying my season ticket.

If there was a points system I'd want STHs to get some points that go towards that.

But you're argument is solely based on , other clubs do it , why shouldn't they do it , capitalism and the world costs money .

I wish I could do more away games but it's a trek enough going to home games at times. Preston for example is a 400 mile round trip on a Tuesday night. Pretty much impossible. I wish their was the luxury of coaches to jump on and sleep the way home.

I think we should put the season ticket prices upto 600 next season ,other clubs pay it , you get the benefit of away day priority ..plus capitalism rules so just go with it and you're helping your club 🤣

Missing the point tbf. No one is saying charge £100 for an away membership.

£20 is enough to put those off who may not go to most and therefore won't mind missing priority for Bournemouth.

For that £20 you would get some other form of reward at the end of the season or something. It's something other clubs do.

Yeah true, I think they are comparable options. I think regardless, those of us who to the vast majority of away games should have priority over the 6000 or so season ticket holders that do now go every away game.

The reason they do it though is to help sell season tickets. I'm sure some buy a season ticket for the priority alongside the ability to go all home games.

Those gap toothed simpletons get in at home on junior tickets I’ve been told. They were bragging about it on a coach to an away game a few weeks back.

I think you'd find a lot would fork out £20, but many would (rightly) be p*ssed off at a £100. I agree, shouldn't have to pay at all. In an ideal world the club ought to be able to retrospectively track supporters previous purchasing history and create a points system. Bound to be teething issues, but that would seem fairer. It is currently only a relatively small percentage of games that are an issue, but having a system set up to accommodate such issues is better than a 'free for all'.

Here's an idea, what about only selling tickets in person at the ticket office with no on-line sales. First come, first served, proof of season ticket or away stubs.
