The better question is where do you see it ultimately going? The unvaccinated in concentration camps?

The fact is most clog up in hospitals now is the anti vaccine brigade but they will rightly be treated in hospital however they have to acknowledge their actions are selfish

Tbh I'm not a huge fan of mandated vaccinations but on the other hand they're no worse than enforced lockdown of the whole population regardless of risk at individual level.

If I was working in ICU I'd be pretty pissed off having to treat unvaccinated people. I'd also be pretty pissed off if I lived in the 2nd / 3rd world with no access to a vaccine.

These are the same types of people as those who go into Covid wards and intimidate the nurses and patients. The delicate balancing act though is offering the virus a much greater chance of combining higher transmissibility with higher fatality, and allowing large swathes of unvaccinated to go about their merry business.

At least much more people over here have backed the pioneering science over pioneering nonsense

Austria looks down the unvaccinated. It's like Hitler never left.

I'm not sure how anyone can be alright with that. Shame on them.

Assuming you mean Austria looks down “on” the unvaccinated, don’t you think equating the situation with the holocaust is taking your victim/ persecution complex to something of an extreme?

In a way the apartheid comparison is more crass than Adolf nonsense as the real apartheid is the distribution of vaccines to the haves and denying the have nots

Not all of them, it must be said. But a pretty low % I imagine
I'd assume that people with a genuine medical reason will have some exemption. tbh it's a different kettle of fish with those people, they deserve every sympathy and assistance in keeping them safe and allowing them as normal a life as possible... and that, after all, is why we're using vaccines for the rest of us, isn't it.

Thank God you are here.

I did not compare it to the holocaust, so you can get fucked. I compared this policy to something Hitler would implement. I presume you think it is ok though?

I have no idea, but when this first started and I said it could lead to a two tier society, people laughed and called me a conspiracy theorist.

Well everyone has a choice and I assume you’d extend that choice to someone who is vulnerable and doesn’t want to share an enclosed space with an anti vaxxer so what do you do?

A two tier society by the voluntary refusal of a free, potentially life saving vaccine that has largely been denied to poorer nations. It's nowhere near comparable to 1930s eugenics

If people are mad & weird enough to think that being asked to have a vaccine is comparable to being persecuted by Hitler, I’d say they need to expect a degree of special treatment- which shouldn’t have to happen. But for as long as there are crazy conspiracy theorists around there will have to be measures to protect the normal people in society.

If everyone had the same mindset as the novaxx, we’d either be in never ending yearly lockdowns or 100s of 1000s dying on a yearly basis.

I didn't think that well over a century on from the work of Pasteur, Jenner and their contemporaries, who had to present their work to a far less informed and more scientifically sceptical audience, there'd be anything like this much misinformation and disinformation still going on. Can only imagine people from that time where infectious disease was rampant even in wealthier nations looking on at their descendants rejecting prevention, never mind the cure.

I don’t think there is necessarily any increase in misinformation, more that there is an increase in weirdo conspiracy theorists who think everything means “tHeYrE tRyinG tO cOnTRol mE”

Looking at the financial and other resources being pumped in to anti-vaccine propaganda even pre COVID, I'm not so sure. The scientist in me gets a bit angry seeing blase dismissal of cutting edge work built off decades of advances made by those who came before.

There’s as much info the other way though- in this day and age we have more info at our fingertips than at any other time ever- everyone has access to whatever research they want, and the anti-vaxxer stuff is pretty obviously usually the work of cranks. And yet still some people, no matter what the stats, the facts, the info- they still choose to think it’s all some giant plan to ‘restrict my freedom’

Well given so many more people are literate and the many different ways we can disseminate information around the globe in seconds there pretty much has to be an increase in misinformation.

Besides, isn't an increase in weirdo conspiracy theorists an increase in misinformation?

You say that but many millions around the world believe it quite seriously.

Isn't unequal distribution of resources for the haves and have nots the entire basis of your political beliefs? If we followed right-wing politics the vaccines would have been on auction to the highest bidder and then have been charged for by the medical professionals and what we'd have is some extremely wealthy pharma/medical companies and a hell of a lot more dead poorer people.

Surely the clog up now is people that haven’t been treated because the NHS took preference over covid than everything else

Mrs Wisdom had hers. tbh the biggest challenge was the inept admin of her doctor's! She got a rash for a day which may or may not have been related, but no side effects other than that. My Dad had zero side effects - so much so I wouldn't believe he'd had it, and forced him to show me his NHS record!

Couldn‘t you just believe him instead of demanding to see his record?

It’s clogged up with idiots who won’t take a vaccine and end up in hospital
