It's worth noting it's not just the people who end up in hospital for Covid, it's the measures hospitals have to take to protect those who are admitted for something else, and haven't had a vaccine.

Actually, a rare moment of praise for government, that they've let this decision filter out in reasonable time. Their previous decisions have caused me great anxiety, as they have seemingly abandoned me and my age group.

At least this time around, I know there's a plan, and I know I'd be pretty unlucky to be finished off by Covid... until next autumn at least, anyway ;)

Its the anti vax rhetoric - the issue is the misinformation these people spread is the most damaging thing.

They say they are not anti vax but pro freedom of choice and to go against them is dictatorial

A Jew in a concentration camp could not become a non jew in the same way someone living in apartheid could not become white. These people have a freedom of choice.

Ironically if we go down absurd WW2 analogies ESB is Lord Haw Haw spreading fear and misinformation. I am in favour generally of civil liberties but there is no reason to not take the vaccine at all. None. Its for the good of society so I am afraid that if this behaviour continues then I am leaning towards measures that restrict their movements as they are not prepared to think of the greater population.

That's the thing isn't it. Philosophically I'd have issues, but ESB has persuaded me that for certain groups to regain their liberties, the irresponsible need to be kept away from them.

They are being "segregated" entirely by choice because they refuse to show any common sense & consideration due to being shit scared of a jab. Which then of course gives them a great excuse to trot out all the conspiracy theories.

The big difference is free will isn't it. In the apartheid regime black South Africans were not black by deliberate choice. These anti-vaxxers are.

NW and Grendel are spot on here. What the likes of ESB are forgetting when making these ridiculous analogies is that those refusing to take the vaccine are forcing the vulnerable, who have no choice in the matter, out of society. They are causing exactly the segregation they claim to be against.

There's a large group of CEV people for whom the current advise includes avoiding places where there will be unvaccinated people present. So the reality is whichever route we take we're restricting a group of people and given a choice between forcing restrictions on the vulnerable, who have no choice in the matter, or anti-vaxxers, who are making a choice, I know which group I'd be restricting.

I don't actually think ESB and his ilk are 'forgetting'- enough people have pointed it out even on here, its more they don't care and sneer at others because they don't think they "get it"

Nobody has said they like the policy. The biggest irony of all is that it’s the Austrian far right complaining the loudest about vaccines
