He joined the Tory party for reasons which I suspect is his political outlook being closely aligned with the Tory whip. He's hardly in the Tory heartlands here is he?
He's defected as he thinks it is expedient for his long term political career. It's a terrible terrible look for Labour to welcome such an individual.

Yes but not because I wanted Corbyn as Prime Minister, but because I didn't want Boris johnson as Prime Minister.
It was a choice between having your arm chopped off or getting kicked in the teeth. I went for the less shit of the two options.
Though I liked some of his policies I certainly am no Corbyn fan, I can't stand the guy. Starmer is a million times better.

Completely agree with this, increasingly looks like this has, at least for now, saved Johnson.
I get the argument that Labour has to be a broad church but not sure you have much credibility if you're admitting someone to the party who, according to leaked WhatsApp messages has been calling the Labour Party a 'bunch of c**ts' and generally taking shots at the shadow cabinet, while at the same time kicking out anyone who supports any views that are vaguely left wing.

Labour should be a broad church but if they can welcome a guy that voted for flooding our rivers with shite, not giving food to hungry kids and restricting the right to protest then they can certainly welcome a lifelong member and activist who has been an MP for decades, is still a member and was their leader a few years ago.

Starmer is ruthless and will drop/switch his position in a heartbeat if he thinks it will benefit him. Take his position on nationalisation of energy - in his leadership run he was all for it… now he’s on LBC saying he doesn’t agree, when it has broadly cross-political support from voters, and also in the middle of a energy crisis for a lot of people.
He has no vision, plan or ideas to move the country forward.
He’s obsessed with power IMO.

I'd rather elections were won by somebody that was planning on fixing the structural inequalities in British society that stop people lumping for Boris Johnson and Brexit as their only options.
This liberal bullshit of 'slightly better than the other side' isn't improving things. Look at the polling in America. We're going to end up with Trump coming back more emboldened than ever. In Britain the country doesn't need a one term Labour government that does nothing of note to change things and lets a refreshed Tories back in a few years later.

I've been voting for over 30 years and the ONLY time my vote has EVER counted for anything other than a token protest was the EU referendum....
