Maatsen would be my choice. His defensive “weakness” are over exaggerated and what he offers offensively far outweigh any defensive concerns.
He is an outlet at LWB and has the ability to make things happen.
That said, Bidwells championship pedigree is impressive and he’s been brought in on a decent salary for a reason. I’ve not been impressed so far, but I put that down to rustiness and being new to the team.
Bidwell and Kane have both been described as ‘solid’ which is fine, but if we have two solid WB’s, who aren’t willing to take defenders on and are fairly predictable, we become easier to play against and lose some dynamism.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see them rotated depending on the opposition. But my default is to play on the front foot and be attacking, hence my preference for Maatsen.
