What does Robins see to think a half fit Waghorn who is slow when fully fit is going to trouble those Cardiff defenders more than a bit of pace?

At 1-0 down what did we have to lose by throwing somebody on who's eager to impress? Nah lets swap full backs.

Not having a midfielder that can chip in with 10 goals is going to hurt us. Outside of Gyokeres and Godden we have 1 player still here with more than 2 goals.

we desperately need a midfielder alongside O’Hare that drives into the box and picks up the loose balls - free header aside, Gyokeres looked so isolated. View attachment 23840

Not as isolated as the word "isolated" is in your post, though!

Fairly obvious isn't it that we lack quality in depth?

We do. But he's not willing to say what needs to be said in public-he's working for people who wouldn't care if we lost every week as long as they could continue taking their pound of flesh. What a difference just one extra bit of quality going forward would have made tonight and many others.

Money was offered to get Shipley off our hands and attempt to get an improvement. We decided not to because he had a half decent game against Peterborough and scored against QPR. It was short termist and already now looks daft

It’s so frustrating to see Cardiff field a few younger players with little experience yet we don’t seem to do the same . Back in L1 and L2 we had a lot of success of the back of playing emerging players but even with our successful U-23 side we seem very reluctant to blood them
Robins continually goes into his shell and goes for the default containing set up. I can't stand it. We learn nothing other than that the usual suspects in the attacking roles offer nothing.

Considering the amount of crosses we put into the box I'm struggling to think of the last time we actually created anything from them, bar O'Hare's cross today.

We really need to switch up our play a bit rather than going lofted last man crosses every time. How many times have we seen teams drill it low and hard across the box and capitalize on a rebound etc.

Given we only usually have gyokeres in the box it doesn't seem that different to a long ball tactic.

It does piss me off how so often in games robins keeps it the same when it clearly isn’t working then waits til we go 1 down (usually with not long left) to make a change

Some of Robins decisions recently have been baffling.

He's working under difficult conditions but his obsession with Bidwell and, more recently, Shipley is strange. Although had he played Shipley at LB, it would have been a better option.

Gyökeres wasn't fit enough and was spent by the second half. How he didn't bring Maatsen on earlier I'll never know.

This will be the season that got away. We had a good opportunity with a good starting 11. The teams around us keep throwing points away but sadly we haven't had the consistency or ruthlessness to make it into the top 6.
I just hope it doesn’t end up like the mowbray season

If we did get a bid of 100k or more for Shipley and it was turned down I would guess that the reason being we had quite a few games coming up and didn't want to lose another player because we didn't have enough money to get an adequate replacement

Tonight was a disappointment and whilst I appreciate how some of the sky blue army feel tonight. We must not forget the progress we've made since last season.
Obviously, the lack of depth in the squad has been exposed tonight and reflects the resources and clubs finances
It does seem that we have some players carrying knocks and the fact they are still prepared to turn out shows a positive attitude, so we need to be mindful of this.

This keeps being mentioned but really with this form since October we're on to do about the same as last season if not a bit worse. Objectively this isn't progress

Barnsley lost their manager, star striker, star midfielder and CEO in a summer. That’s a lot of upheaval for one summer. I don’t think we’ll be a repeat of that.

we had a winning formula, and ripped up the blueprint, to play a more attractive style of football, to try and make our players more desirable to other clubs.

That's my fear.

It could go either that way, or the way we got promoted from League 1 a few years back.

Depends heavily on the squad we maintain and the additions we can add.
