Good grief.

You said Kiev would fall within days. It hasn't. You were wrong, massively so.

Just admit it.

Do you really think it's going well for Russia?

Please stop getting your news from GBeebies.

case closed.

I don’t give a fuck if it’s going well for Russia. It’s not going well for anyone living - or dying - through the horror of this war you utter stupid imbecile

the fact all you want is internet points on if Kiev has fallen literally proves my point

You are unbelievably stupid

Proven wrong so resort to lashing out, classic Grendel.

At least you didn't use 'retard' this time.

Russia are winning the war. Progress is slow but it’s progress none the less.

They expected (or planned) to take Kyiv in 3 days and the whole country in 15 days.

Clearly it's been disastrous and while they may be 'winning' at the moment it's now at a stage where actually winning the war looks increasingly unlikely.

Theyre taking cities in the south and east, their likely end game is to solidify those gains and call it a day. I doubt they want to occupy the entire country, just batter it enough so that the Ukrainians will accept the losses to stop the war.

Not sure many nations (besides France in ww2 )the size and military power of Ukraine fall within a fortnite ..

This will take months , but they will fall sadly

And with a catastrophic impact on lives forever

I'd imagine British soldiers are quite uncomfortable with the amount of people happy to see them sent off to die in somebody else's war , whilst they sip latte at Costa

It's all got a bit tit-for-tat around here, but I do agree with the general point that military intervention by us in this instance would be self-defeating. It would cause more bloodshed, more horror, plunge countries already on their knees due to Covid into more instability and financial worry, and potentially have catastrophic consequences beyond Ukraine.

And that doesn't mean I like it, any more than I liked us invading Iraq, or I liked us not taking on North Korea while we pretended to be the world police elsewhere. Unfortunately lines in the sand are never easy, never 'right', and there's always somebody in the world who loses out - one day it might be us.

However, regardless of my personal views, or anyone else's, it's clear that there won't be intervention on behalf of Ukraine, the best Ukraine can hope for is it holds on long enough that it isn't worth Russia's while to push anymore.

Do I like it? Not really. Is it how it is? Alas, yes. Is there an alternative that has a better result? I don't think so.

So we should just wind down the armed forces then?

To be clear, I don’t think there would be a war if Ukraine had security assurances from the major military powers in the west. I’m also not sure we count as a major military power these days.

I get you’ve got personal reasons post Afghanistan to be anti armed forces, but it’s not realistic is it?

If you don’t want to go fight in a war, maybe don’t join the army?

For the third time: if the military thought I’d be of use then yes. If the best way I could support was using my skills directly instead of paying taxes for equipment and training for others then yes. I seriously doubt that’s the case though so you’re being a bit ridiculous (surprise surprise)

So would you ever accept using them outside of a direct invasion on British soil?
Ofcourse we have done many times .. you're a clever lad .. tell me what benefit the world gets by directly interfering with a super nations war just because morally it makes us feel good ?

There is NO benefit to be had , and I'd imagine should a global war start , people like yourself won't be signing up through conscription

You don’t sign up for conscription that’s kinda the point. If we were in a WW2 style situation then yes I would, my skill set as I’ve said before would likely be in cyber or comms, but yes if it came to me picking up a rifle and doing basic training I would because frankly if we’re down to the 40 year old obese asthmatics shit has gone sideways badly.

I think there is a benefit in defending democracy in Europe. But again: I don’t think the war would even have started had we (as “the west”) had a commitment to support the likes of Ukraine.

I think throwing other people to the dogs in the hopes they leave us alone is the definition of cowardice TBH.

Why do you care now ?
Syria, Iraq, Palestine have all been thrown to the bloody dogs mate ..only difference is it was us or our allies doing it ..

Let's just stay in our lane , it's not 1845 anymore and we aren't that Britain anymore either

If you're that bothered, book your flight and fuck off too Ukraine.

We are at best a support force , the only nation that will instigate a direct interference is the USA through nato

We should’ve gone into Syria as well, that was a disgrace, what we did in Palestine was a disgrace too, Iraq was mostly us starting it wasn’t it?

And again: Indont think it would be us, as I said I don’t think we count as a major military power any more, it would be the US. But the idea that we should let Russia do what it likes with any country that’s not in NATO isn’t right. The same arguments would apply to NATO countries as well. Why draw the line there? Because you know he wouldn’t attack a NATO country, which is exactly why I want us to accept these peace proposals of a security guarantee: because it would prevent war.

Then I think this war will carry on a lot longer and won’t be the last because we’ll have shown Putin his tactics work and the rest of the world is either too scared or too indifferent to do anything about it.

Nato will protect its member states , and Russia I believe know that
