Is putting up taxes Tory? I'd be more than happy for taxes to go up to fund spending projects, work, and a redistribution of wealth. They could also subsidise water, electricity, gas from increased tax revenues, too...Tories gonna Tory
UK is only major economy to put up taxes during cost-of-living crisis, research finds
Exclusive: Other G7 countries are cutting burden on working people by up to 0.5% of GDP, say Labourwww.independent.co.uk

Well, we already had the Tory MP who said those on Universal Credit might like the £20 boost, but didn't necessarily need it, then said his colleague on £80k a year + expenses had to do outside work in order to be able to afford to look after his family.Glad to see them finally take the cost of living crisis seriously.
If only, eh.I bet they've got so much kompromat on Johnson.
At least Stewart had some principles and realised it would not be right to go, unlike his boss.
Rory Stewart revealed he was invited to Lebedev's infamous Italian party where there would be 'girls' - and told 'Boris Johnson is coming'
Johnson allegedly flew to the party and returned looking 'dishevelled' without his protection detail, raising questions about the security of the event.www.thelondoneconomic.com
Fucking Johnson is piece of work.

They say that situations like this are a gimme as a politician as people want to be supportive and you've got to be totally incompetent to fuck it up. Just have a grave expression on your face, a serious tone of voice and a sympathetic message and you'll do well.Literally can’t help himself . I personally think he’s done ok of late in relation to Ukraine, at least he’s come across as a serious politician… and then this.
What exactly has he done over Ukraine? We have been lamentable and slow over the refugees issue.Literally can’t help himself . I personally think he’s done ok of late in relation to Ukraine, at least he’s come across as a serious politician… and then this.

True. But we overplayed our hand. They started taking it seriously while we stagnated meaning we’re now at the bottom of the pile. Even more so when you consider our unenviable position of being able to do the most as we’ve aloud ourselves to be Russias laundry coupled with the golden visa scheme that Putins henchmen took full advantage off.We were pushing other countries to take the situation more seriously a lot earlier than many did. We have trained military and provided arms to Ukraine before pretty much every other nation and prior to the start of the conflict, some of this also pre dates Johnson (so can’t give him credit for everything). We don’t know how things would’ve turned out in those first few days if we hadn’t.
I agree about refugees though, pathetically slow

Steve. We’re the money laundering capital of the world and there’s over 2500’s Russian oligarchs who have taken advantage of the golden visa scheme. I think we’re bottom of the pile not only in numbers but also as a percentage of what we actually could do. You’re delusional if you think otherwise.Bottom of the pile ?! Come on Tony, I know you don’t think much of the government but I think that’s a bit OTT

Johnson comes across as having a major inferiority complex. Everything has to be ‘world beating’, ‘world leading’ etc.
I’m sure once the war is over and Ukraine have joined the EU then Zelensky will be rushing to hold an in-out referendum in the name of freedom.
it will of course under eu rules take what about 20 years to qualify for membership?
So what's Rishi going to do to help us all in the spring Budget today?
Fuck all, presumably.
Guessing he'll blame everything on the Ukraine war and hope everyone forgets that this was all on the cards well before the war.
Then make some tax cuts before the next election to show us how wonderful and generous he and his party is.
Can see reduction in fuel duty but don’t know what else he can do if anythingHes not going to put any of the money transfered to the rich during this latest wealth grab back in the hands of the working man thats for sure.
