One thing Lewis can never be knocked for is his quest for equality and making public stances against immorality. Actually admire him in that to be honest

I think it's fairly clear which driver would get the most attention from the Saudi authorities if the race had been cancelled. I saw Hamilton got a death threat from someone claiming to be a trackside fire marshall last night.

It will be interesting to see the demeanour of the drivers today. Even those that wanted to carry on racing are unlikely to be thrilled by last nights events.

Hamilton 11th in final practice, the other Mercs occupy the last 7 spots. Maybe that engine is more of a problem than the aero package?

I winced as soon as he spun that, there was only one place that was going and with the way the track is it could only be a big impact.

All F1 races need an air ambulance, if Mick needs one right now how is its safety in the air guaranteed?

This circuit really isn't safe. It's way too fast for how close the walls are, they need to slow it down in places. I know they want to advertise it as the fastest street circuit, but that's no good if its a bloody death trap. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the drivers ask for more discussions with the FIA about making more changes.

Weirdly I fancy max from p4 tomorrow. I feel like the safety cars and unpredictability will lead to a slightly odd result - red bull may take a gamble on his strategy which pays off.

I just don't like watching night racing. Just seems wrong somehow. And this track is horrible. High walls = all round poor vision. It must be horrible for the drivers only seeing a few yards ahead and if there was an incident just after a 'blind spot', how quick could they react? It's like any one of us speeding along on a small country road at 90mph!

It is. They say the car has potential, but it's looking like it's hard to get it in the right window. I don't doubt there's pace in it somewhere, but doesn't seem they can unlock it fully.

I dont even think it has potential.

Haas, Ferrari and Alpine all came out and said they looked at the zero sidepod concept but it was draggy as hell and had a minimal window of right setup so they binned it.

I think they've just gone the wrong route. They will improve of course, but they're 0.8 - 1.1 seconds off the pace. You dont make that up on upgrades for a long time, and thats with the opposition standing still. Ferrari havent even stuck 1 upgrade on since first testing 5 weeks ago and still they're the fastest.

I really think Mercedes are about to go through a ferrari style drought. But after 8 consecutive titles it will probably kick them up the arse to sort it

Never really understand how cars can be that "bad" when they've spent so much time and money in designing them. can understand issues that arise from extended use (eg during a race likeRed Bull's last week) due to the limited testing times etc but flaws as obvious as Mercedes just seem to be a result of some really poor preparation.

When Haas and Alpine are ahead of Mercedes thinking then you're in trouble.
Also Mercedes have lost a lot of management/production/design people to other teams over last 18 months maybe that's what's hurting them ( and helping others).

Looks like Perez has thrown in the towel to some extent, two kicks in the teeth in quick succession will do that for you I guess.

Good race that. Thank the Saudi government for their generosity, get out the country, tell the Saudi government they are a bunch of backwards fuckers and move on, don't go back.

Isnt it strange how nasty dangerous Max can manage to have a great close race with a fantastic driver like Leclerc, 2 races in a row without crashing

Maybe, Mr Squeaky Clean Hamilton was just as culpable as Max last season 🤔
No it's these new cars.
Can follow closer and less need to take the risks they were taking previous seasons. Not jumping from deep.
Plus Red Bull has the straight line speed advantage this season so less need to take risks.
We'll see how drivers deal with Red Bull straight speed when season develops.

Max yet again putting the brakes on hard to avoid crossing the line before Charles, so he can get DRS. I always thought that was a dangerous move and should be penalised… ??

Rare crossover between F1 and football for the forum. Ferrari and McLaren away and Williams home are my favourites

Oh great. Another street circuit.......

This obsession with them is getting very boring very fast honestly. There's so many great circuits out there that with just a bit of work would be great venues for an F1 race. There's even some out there already up to standard for F1 if it wasn't so obsessed with sticking everything in the middle of downtown.
