Now people have got a bone on because COH told CWR that he’ll be staying.

Yeah, because he’s gonna say ‘Probably not if the right offer comes in’…

I'm surprised to read that we're binning Kane off already, when did that happen? Presumed we were building a squad of "experienced Championship players".

We are every season is another season at Championship level for our players therefore they are adapting and becoming/have become championship players, 92 possible league games close to 100 games so thats a relatively decent amount of experience

For sure, even Shipley is to some extent now an "experienced Championship player". The point I was making was regarding types of signing of the ilk of Kane and Bidwell. It's very surprising to see Kane given up on quite so quickly-was he that bad? He got some assists!

I think it’s more that someone basically expelled by QPR for being a prick has turned out not to be a good fit. Who’d have thought?

I have heard he upset a few and doesn't fit in, seems to be an outspoken sort of lad with a lot of confidence in himself and his own ability. I think that is fine, if it's channeled in the right way and used as part of group thinking. But by the sounds of it he may not be using it in this way and it may come across as arrogant or self important in a group that clearly doesn't function or see success being achieved that way.

The spirit of this team is a collective group of players who are over achieving, not on an individual moaning about themselves. A lot of this group have come along together from a lower level, a smaller club or an academy that deemed them not ready or able to play in a 1st team football.
That has to stay no matter of ins and outs and no matter of individuals or circumstance.

I only know what i was told and if true, Kane isn't who or what we need. MR will know this and get him out sooner rather than later and be quiet about doing it. Mistakes will happen in signings but if made when possible they need to be separated asap for the greater good of the squad.

Separated eh Long Way Home, that does sound bad. I would have thought it was obvious to some extent what sort of character he was before we signed him due to his outspoken twitter views on not playing at his last club, but we must have thought it would be different here.

Didn’t even get an obligatory cup appearance for Chelsea, he did get to go on the pitch and celebrate a few trophies though, maybe that’s why…

Not ideal that 3/6 of last summer’s permanent signings could be out of the door within 12 months. Add to that Sheaf and Gyokeres were 2 out of the remaining 3, and scouted the season before and it’s not a particularly glowing indictment of last summer’s scouting processes. Recruitment of contracted players needs to be better this season.

I have no knowledge on this and maybe im miles off, but i think DL has a bigger influence and is making a bigger impact on this squad than most think. I don't get the impression he takes shit or takes a drop in standard, we have seen an improvement in the standard of play. So Its no coincidence the emphasis was placed on training pitches this summer as a key component for us to improve.

So all that brings me to the players he wants around him and in the environment. He will be having no BS, no moaning and most of all no one with an attitude of entitlement. MR is reacting and seeing his impact and together with AV are creating a very good side with improving players that entertainment. If DL has an opinion i think its very much taken on board and this is one Kane may have upset. I don't think DL is someone to be messed with or questioned as player or a coach and think a few have already worked that out.

Its an opinion, no knowledge or inside info just an observation that could be completely wrong.

What’s huh about it? We signed 6 players last summer, 2 were loanees from the season before, 1 was Moore, 1 was Enobakhare (lol) and the other 2 are Kane and Waghorn who were already want to get rid of. Gyokeres and Sheaf were presumably scouted the season before, so that leaves 4 players scouted last season, 3 of which have been varying levels of failure. Our loan signings have been good, but unless we’re going to rely on signing loanees permanently every summer, which is looking unlikely with Maatsen and JCS, we can’t afford to waste money on players who contribute little and we then need to shift 12 months later, like we did last summer.

2020 recruitment was good: Sheaf, Gyokeres, Hamer, DaCosta, Hillsner, Walker - three of our best players, and three deadwood players.

2021 recruitment was less so good: Kane, Waghorn, Enobakhare, Moore, Bidwell - one already gone, two on their way out, one first choice and one unknown.

I would argue sheaf gyokeres and Moore excellent permanent signings
Enobakare awful
Kane did a job but ultimately wasn’t able to change his ways
Waghorn didn’t work after the first 10 games we won’t know what would have happened without collar bone injury and covid but he’s not been a success
Bidwell looked good at cb but definitely too soon to say whether it’s a success or not

You can’t say getting loan players and then making them permanent isn’t a good plan. It’s an excellent plan

I have no problem with season long loans irrespective of whether the intention is to look to sign them the following year. Maatsen was never going to sign, Jcs still might

Walker was our top scorer in 2020 season hardly deadwood
