Seems like you’re very keen for them to have gone for reasons besides this newfound love for Wales

not really i wanted Scotland to do well in the first World Cup I can really remember - 78

The gushing “the whole world is with Ukraine” is pretty sick making but as a British citizen its natural you’d want a Welsh victory

Do the British citizens of Wales and Scotland root for an England win, I don't think so, they support whoever England is playing, ask Andy Murray he'll tell you.

I assume this is another contrarian shtick

Murrays quip was a joke and I wanted him to win every time

Murray’s joke was taken out of context, he said it in response to Henman and someone else asking Him who he was supporting in the World Cup and he laughed anyone but England.

the media tooka snippet of banter and turned it into “Murray hates England”

Ok, British citizens of Wales and England not including Andy Murray do not want England to win and will support the team whoever they are playing against, the Jocks were all supporting Argentina one year when England played them in the World Cup

This is bollocks.
No nations people have an homogenous opinion on anything.

I mean watching England v Italy in the 6N in a Scottish pub you’d have people banging the tables and screaming on the Italians. One guy used macaroni pie as a reason to support Italy

Stereotype yes but not totally unfounded.

Of course lots of Scots wa t England to lose. Same as lots of English want Scotland to lose.

But it doesn't apply to everyone,it's just a generalisation.

You won't find many people of the home nations supporting England, Rugby or Football

So now its not many!
I mean, even if it was none, who gives a fuck?
Its sporting rivalry, surely that's what it's about?
I've always been treated well in other home nations and that will do me, not too bothered if they don't like our sports teams.

You've gone off scale, we're on about sporting rivalry and nothing else so I don't know what the fuck you are on about, I never mentioned being treated badly in Scotland or Wales outside of football or rugby

Pleased for Wales and Bale certainly deserves a WC appearance before he finishes.

I wanted Wales to win, always good to see underdogs and, as above, Bale deserves a World Cup to sign off with.

But, living a decade in Wales, I got a bit fed up with the huge number of Slovakia / Moldova / San Marino / Netherlands fans who lived in the country - the Britain winning certainly doesn't apply in reverse unless you were Scottish or Northern Irish!

I never said you did.
You were wrong in your assertion that everyone in the other home nations never support England, but even if it was true, who really cares?

It's sporting rivalry. We're you one of those weirdos who wanted Leicester to win the league?!

I wanted Leicester to win the league..... as someone who grew up on the Villa rivalry, i really can't get on board with the Leicester hatred, and was happy for them to give a bloody nose to the "big clubs".... which given their attempt to destroy English football with the Super League, i stand by my decision....

I grew up on the Leicester rivalry from the 70s and early 80s so I never got the Villa rivalry who I wanted to win the league and European Cup final in 81/82, just depends on your era I suppose, I did like Scotland in 78 in Argentina, thought they had a great side .
