Transfer Shouts (66 Viewers)

According to a few Bristol City fans I know, he has got plenty of ability but a terrible attitude and not a great work ethic.

He's worked under a few managers at Bristol and they've left him out of the team.

If it does happen, he'll get my full backing providing his attitude is good. A new chapter for him, I hope it works out like O'Hare rather than Bright.

Text a Bristol season ticket holder I know.

"He gets a bad reputation and he is basically only useful in 3-5-2 set up. He works hard, gets booked a lot but everywhere he's been he's failed to pin down a spot in the team. He is on ridiculous money and played about 200 minutes. 1 goal, 1 assist in less than 5 games for us last season. I really like him as a player but he never got a shout, Pearson never rated him. Plays with swagger, shows pace, skill, strength, no look passes etc just gets labelled as a luxury against better teams. I am sad he's leaving but he's a drain on our wages, rumours are he's on £20k per week and he played the equivalent of two games for us (minutes-wise) last season. I hope he joins you and flourishes, he just hasn't got his career started yet."

Time will tell, but from what I deduced from the Palmer situation at Bristol City, was that they paid him a large wage, but when they wanted him to move elsewhere, he wasn't that bothered about moving, but was happy to stay and pick up his wgaes. Annoying for them, but doesn't necessarily make him a bad apple. Some were saying he was treating his time there as a job to earn money, rather than 'loving' the game. Guess not everybody is a Cal O'Hare type of character.

I’m excited any time we sign a player of decent pedigree, and lord knows we need some pace and flair in the side. But history tells us these kinds of signings rarely work out. I don’t see how he’ll fit into our current system where a lot of defensive work is expected from our two AMs, and he’s not suddenly going to turn into a pressing machine.

My hope is that the assistant manager knows better than anybody what he can and can't do, so would presume we wouldn't take the chance if we weren't confident. I guess Dabo came through the ranks too, and would have at least some awareness as to how he'd fit into a group.

So yeah, am underwhelmed, but also hopeful we get a £3.5mil player for free. Guess we find out!

Everyone here was kicking off about CAM and how we needed decent cover for Callum, or someone of quality to play alongside him if we went 1 up top

We now have that person yet still people are kicking off

I don't get it?

I'm pretty sure were all unanimous that hes a better punt that Shipley Or Jones no?

That's what happens when fans delude themselves into thinking we're actually capable of signing the likes John Swift and Scott Twine.

Not everyone is kicking off, I think he's potentially an excellent signing. Gives us a genuine first team starter or better cover than we've recently had.
Having him and a fit Eccles on the bench has got to be better than our recent midfield options.

Is he actually a number 10? He doesn't look it from the clips I've seen.

I mean I suppose really it adds weight to the theory that MR is going back to the box this season.

If he does, the signing of Palmer playing off Callum and Gyok with Sheaf and Hamer covering behind does seem to make sense and is very strong

Would also make sense were talking to Plange then, as with Gyok we have the strength, ability to make defenders shit themselves when running, Godden, the cool finishing and adding Plange as a pace option means we can change back to 2 up top quickly depending on the opposition

Could in theory play wingers aswell, Gyokeres can play out wide as can Plange I think. Palmer plays as winger aswell

I dont think he even started a game for them last season. His season by season stats are very average if he's a number 10. Looks more of a replacement for hamer.

How could he possibly be a replacement for Hamer when he has played 2 games in central midfield in his entire career according to stats posted above?

Who is kicking off?

Being better than Shipley or Jones isn’t the yardstick for a successful signing. If we’re paying him anything close to what he’s getting at Bristol, and he then performs to a similar level then this would be a disastrous signing. We have to hope history doesn’t repeat itself here.
