Neither did I on first viewing but pretty sure he did on the replay, obviously deemed a deliberate play because Kane was clearly in an offside position.

Trying to keep it tight and nick a goal is about the opposite of the strengths of the players he has. Let the shackles off, accept that Maguire will be garbage no matter how many holding midfielders are in front of him, and rack up some goals

Exactly. At least Grealish doesn't know how to play any other way. The likes of Mount and Saka are set different roles to their club games, where they are given more freedom there. Much more restrained for England.

I would always pick Foden ahead of Mount and I really think we need to replace Maguire. Tomori won the league title in Italy and deserves a chance in the back four.

We played well for the last 15 mins. Germany should have been out of sight by then though.

Bellingham, Grealish and Rice played well. Everyone else was sub par.

Why did Germany only have two stars above their badge?

My only guess would be that they’re classing World Cups they have won as a unified Germany as opposed to West Germany, but that seems an odd thing to do

Functional choices unfortunately. You can’t knock Southgate for what he’s done with England but it’s so frustrating when even his attacking are picked for defensive qualities. Mounts no doubt a quality player but for me, he’s not a front three player (especially when you’ve got a couple of holders) and that’s where Southgate insists on playing him.
