Transfer Shouts (34 Viewers)

Must say I'm a bit exasperated at some of the reaction
All we're dealing with is rumours both in and out
Let's wait for genuine information
Most clubs are yet to start doing business and no one gets all their targets
And if we do lose any of our big players we'll get the right money - some of which will be given to Robins
How long have you been posting on here now?

Not really - we all know the constraints MR has to work with. Presumably he will have to work to a budget part of which will be based on estimated average attendances. If we had sold 8,000 STs, then the budget may have been based on 17k. Having sold in excess of 11k, the budget may be based on 20k. I don't profess to know, but there has to be a correlation between expected income and expenditure.

Well of course, but the budget seems basement in either circumstance

You yourself have said if Hamer was sold Robins would get his wages to replace him.

That's exasperating.

He calls the shots
That's why the big guys are all on expensive contracts
It was a risk giving them as a bad injury is always the fear when doing that - then we would have been buggered
But Robins wanted to make sure we had the mic when it comes to richer clubs trying to strip our assets

I thought the idea was to sell players on for profit and reinvest? Holding on to certain players at greater expense seems the antithesis of that

Well 10,000 tickets at an extra £50 plus let’s say 2,000 at an extra £300 on average, about an extra £1 million on the back of a fag packet. You get the point though-fans continue to back the club in great numbers despite the general financial conditions and Robins is told to scrub together whatever he can find from down the sofa.

It’s like we’re just waiting to get relegated back to a more affordable division.

It would roughly be about that yeah give or take.

Of course I get the point, if anything I've just highlighted it.

And others will be wrong as well. 4 to 5 players of better quality than we have is a good window.

Oh and one of the "ITK" thinks you are being a fanny it seems

Stalk? This is the first time I have replied to you in ages mate so wtf are you on about.

Well no it’s just a bit curious that out of many posts saying the same things you focus on that one. True yes it’s a long while since you wandered over to the CCFC side of the forum.

Replacements are needed for JCS and Maatsen, will they be upgrades remains to be seen. Likewise any longer term McF replacement. Palmer as a replacement for Shipley/Bright is an improvement yes. The beef is not with Robins, for the umpteenth time

Sbb has said palmer is a done deal. The same palmer who turned down Cardiff as they didn't offer him enough money. But now sisu are to blame for being cheap and wanting to send us back to league 1 because jcs has turned us down to stay in London

I'm confused, are we tight gits or not?

If Palmer is a big earner with his history that’s an entirely separate issue about how we’re spending our limited budget. And a valid one considering the rumours of some player wages who are nowhere near first choice in their position.

That's the whole point. Our squad needs improving and it sounds like our owners can't be fucked.

Yes, and to get our team to that level, we need a good 2-3 seasons. Players like Gyo, COH and Hamer will at some point need to be sold and replaced.

We spent years in L1/2, the team wasn’t going to ever be in a place to compete that high up the table after one season in the Championship.

I’d rather not be a basket case club like Bham, Bristol or Derby (the list could carry on) who waste millions on players and get into serious trouble.

The team has literally progressed year-on-year for 5 seasons and the same people catastrophise every pre-season. Let’s at least take stock of the team before Game 1 and again at the end of the window.

It's not really all that surprising Cardiff lost out. Financially they're a mess.

Their chairman has repeatedly mentioned their financial struggles and the need for external investment and has also reiterated over the past two windows that there is little money available for transfers.

They also have the added complication of the legal battles looming over their heads as well - namely the Emiliano Sala case which I think they're still waiting on an appeal on unless I'm mistaken.

Well the general impression of us scrimping around seems accurate. Any frustration is really with those making the manager operate in this fashion.

Sisu are an absolute disgrace

Can see the gaffer getting restless very soon

he and adI deserve more than scrimping around for 3/4 freebies

have a real chance to kick on but leopards don’t change their Spots

they’re the same owners who have run us into the mire

This, you'd think people would know better with our history.

I haven’t written off our chances or predicted certain relegation. I didn’t last summer either and actually praised the Waghorn signing at the time.

But I have made what I think are valid concerns about how we’re operating in this division. Shifting towards a small number of players on big contracts and becoming actually a bit more like those sides who don’t get value for money. We aren’t blessed with generous owners so need to be very careful with what we’ve got.

So you would rather be derby then yes?

I’m assuming we do have some money in the transfer budget probably around 1 million, and I think at the moment we are focusing on out of contract players and will spend our money on loan fees and/or a player

Yes, but equally, none of us here (afaik) are scouts and know anything about football to the degree our recruitment team does.

Some of the shouts made on this thread proves that. Probably my shout of Helik included!

Helik would be a good signing and realistic if we had a decent chunk of money to spend, just a shame we won’t have a lot unless there is a sale
