Penny Mordaunt apparently in trouble for duplicity on trans views. The country is spiralling and this bunch of mentalists are worried about someone’s personal views on trans.

It’s all the grifters at GB News/LBC/Talkradio whipping up a frenzy about it. Even the Tory voters referenced above by shmmeee don’t seem to see it as a priority.

Interesting polling of Tory Party members. Seemingly far less headbangy than the candidates it seems.

Interesting that they've picked pretty sensible looking priorities but then vote for a party that either doesn't care about or chooses the wrong way to address them.

And they'd probably say the same about the 'other side'

Hilarious, JHB interviewing that pro-EU shouty idiot.
Asked him a question. As soon as he started to answer she shouts Lies, Lies, Lies.
Drowned him out.

This is more than just mentalists making the point though. This will be Tory dark arts as she’s one of the favourites and certain people hoping it’s a weak spot for her when it comes to support

So a perception of being ‘woke’ matters more than her going on more about the flag than substance?

You’re probably right, it’s a reflection on the quality of the field.

Crazy I know but that’s politics

It’s not going to be game changer but it might swing a couple of votes here and there, especially against other candidates with similar policies

To be honest most the Tories I know still want Hunt to win as he’s more socially liberal. Though they are half the age of the average voting member

It’s strange how badly Hunt polls both with members and the normal world yet you’re not the first person to mention there’s support for him out there. I always think he comes across as pretty credible when I hear him. Maybe a bit dull but I don’t mind that

You'd think dull would be a blessed relief after the past three years!

He's fallen into the 'cut tax just for the hell of it' trap though. Also seems to be pro Rwanda and pushing through protocol bill, neither of which seem particularly his position, so he's either joined the madmen, or he's being disengenuous to get votes.

I think Mordaunt is the favourite. Sunak and Hunt have too many enemies and Hunt has failed twice already I think and you don’t tend to win after a couple of goes.
I don’t agree with her politically but very impressed with her ability to speak in sentences and she’s wound up some of the white men in suits enough for them to be briefing against her for being sensible about trans challenges!

what do you think of her?

Andy Street has backed him I've just seen. In all it's a pretty bleak field with no obvious statesman or woman

She’s the closest on a lot of issues, most importantly climate. She’s still a Tory though.

Short term she’s the best choice for the country IMO, long term she’s the worst cos she’d probably beat Labour and continue the destruction of the economy and public services.

I don’t agree with her on the trans issue either, but as she’s got the same position as Labour it might stop us losing a few second wave feminists to the Tories. I’ve seen a lot going on about Badenoch and switching if she wins. But we’re into very online very Twitter stuff at this point and it’s unlikely to have much of an impact electorally. I just personally don’t like the Tories becoming the party of old school feminists.

Yes, whilst I don't agree with her politics, if she wins it will at least be nice to see a PM speak in actual sentences, not dressed like a tramp and not embarrassing themselves on the world stage.

She's clearly the best candidate.

I watched the LBC link that was posted yesterday. I thought she came across well. Like with all of them though, a lot will depend on what cabinet she ended up with

I think his support for the Rwanda policy is caveated with opening up some safe asylum centres/routes though.

Id happily take dull and competent

I think the fact she’s not really been prominent in Johnson’s cabinet will help her, and hopefully means she’ll be fishing in a different pool. If Truss gets it well keep seeing the likes of Patel and Gove hanging around.

Just can’t see any logic for this decision by Labour - shitheads.

Best I can see is they’re working on something as they said and this is a bit of game playing by the Lib Dems. But the optics are terrible and let’s be honest it’s not likely to go anywhere. For me if your opponent is doing something like this you call their bluff.

Nothing say's, 'calling their bluff' better than abstaining on giving free school meals to the poorest in society in the middle of a huge cost of living crisis.

Well done.
