O'Hare bids (12 Viewers)

The words you used were 'They don’t really give a toss about the strength of the squad'.

If they didn't, they wouldn't have paid money for Hamer, no?
Realistically over the course of their tenure they have paid peanuts for the majority of signings. They’ve been incredibly lucky that they picked up O’Hare, Hamer and Vik for nothing in the grand scheme of fees in this division. That’s not down to the owners ambition. That’s down to Robins, Viveash and the recruitment team playing an absolute blinder.

If he goes, whatever the fee it won't be all up front, so need to moderate expectations of what there will be to spend if anything

They didn't pay any money for Hamer, the club funded the transfer itself through money it generated itself. The owners have not put any actual net investment in for 10 years or more.

I'd actually thought that Richard Overson had helped out with the Hamer fee? Was this a fever dream?

O'Hare, Gyökeres, Hamer and Sheaf will all be sold at some stage. All clubs sell their assets. We just need to ensure we get the best price and reinvest some of the money in players we can develop and do the same with. In many respects O'Hare to Burnley is a perfect sale. An idiot relegated club awash with parachute funds acting like a kid in a sweet shop. Personally I think the club have acted quite well since Jan to ensure we get decent fees.

Do we really need to sell Callum or is it him that is forcing the move it's about time we stopped being a selling club if we want to reach the so called promised land.

After the last major sale SISU awarded themselves an interest payment of £1.6m I believe it was, given their accrued interest in the last accounts was £11m on a loan with a value of £9m, I have no doubt a payment will be made. Plus some set aside from repayment of the EFL loans (£1.1m owed for that by May 2022).

of course. Pay some debts. Pay some interest. Invest the rest.

Warms my heart to see how decent Fulham and Burnley are in letting Hamer and O'Hare still train with us and play in friendly matches for us even though we've sold them

So you're certain there's no foundation, and all of them will be here for the full season?

Doubt it, I imagine one will go at some point but the pre bed wetting on here is hilarious as people believe anything that paints the club in a negative light for some reason and then ignore the positive stuff (or try and find a reason that it's bad) I just don't get that mentality

I’ll be gutted if we lost O Hare now. Everything we do goes through him. If and when, the club needs to allow MR to reinvest enough to replace him.

It's his agent I heard

Alternatively, people are just nervous about one or more of our better players going, and worried about whether we'll get a replacement at all, let alone a good one. What's wrong with that?

I'd rather be like that and be leasantly surprised when Ronaldo rocks up as Gyokeres's replacement, then be totally surprised hen a player goes, as if I'd never seen that happen here before.

Which is fine if there is a base to those worries other than random twitter accounts which is they were saying positive things would be ignored

This summer is already different than others in that it is widely accepted we haven't accepted the first bid for players like we did with Wilson, maddison etc so it's more of a wait and see what happens...

I'll be the first to be proper pissed off if we sell and don't replace properly but to have that as the default is just odd to me (tbf I am a glass half full kinda guy :) )

What do you want as a base, then? What is acceptable? After however many years of nonsensical owners (not just this lot!) are you surprised the default is negative?

I'm still waiting for the Operation premiership cash to be spent!

But the noise is different this year in that we seemingly haven't accepted the first bids for our star players as we have done in the past and are waiting for a more acceptable offer which has to be a step in the right direction (but again this has been ignored so people can go boo Sisu as the default)

I get the fact people have a default negative view and it's completely understandable but there is no evidence for it at the moment which is why I find it a bit bewildering

I dunno, I find the noise very different this year to last (OK, Sheaf was already confirmed beforehand but he signed permanently, we spent on Gyokeres) or the one before that (we bought Hamer). There's been nothing like that, and the talk has instead been of players being sold with nothing other than a bit of a punt to console us.

If we'd signed a Gyokeres as-was or a Hamer as-was, I'm sure people would be a bit more phlegmatic.

But when has the squad regressed in the last 5 years, when we've sold our better players (arguably lesser players than CoH but important players at the time)?

It's not really relevant, the facts are we'll be selling our best player, widely recognised as our key man and will not be able to spend all of the income on a replacement. It's going to be really difficult for the outcome not to be a regression in the overall quality of the sqiad.

If O'Hare's agent plays his cards right he would wait and see how teams are doing come January. Can you guarantee that Burnley will be in the promotion mix? i wouldn't bet on it. O'Hare has a great relationship with our club and fans and has come on leaps and bounds under MR. He may get a premiership move in January if he improves further this season as i expect him to do, or be sitting in the top six with us. I truly do not feel Burnley is a good move for him as is rumoured. For us replacing our talisman will be extremely difficult without the funds to do so. That would impact the team and the other core players. Why throw away 5 years progesssive work now? Ride out the bids and lets get a good start to the season.

Sorry I was talking more about sales wise, this is the first time in a few years we actually have saleable assets and unlike other years we appear to not have to sell them on the cheap, surely if things were as bad as people are making out we would have accepted the reported offers for vik or hamer or O'Hare that we have aparently rejected in favour of if we sell them they go for what they are worth (as apposed to what happened with Wilson, maddison, juke etc)

That's what feels different to me... Also from a outgoing point of view we have given new contracts to O'Hare and Hamer which won't have been cheap and I can't imagine Palmer is on peanuts either. We would also have loan fees and wages on the two loan players so money is being spent (again something that people don't seem to accept for some reason)

The story is not going away which says to me the club are more than happy to not make a solid stance. With Vik it was put to bed quick 20mill or stop bothering us was the cry when Boro phoned. With O hare it seems they are not making it clear or are making it very clear its about valuation and are willing to deal if met.

If that's the case i hope its with a but, if you don't meet valuation by this day it will go higher closer to the season it gets. The way this is being handled Its a terrible message to the fans, i trust MR but i don't trust these owners or DB, if they pull the rug from us the momentum gained will be lost in one day. We all understand this is a business, but we all want the club to compete, improve and progress. This to me doesn't feel like that, its feels like the old club coming back now they have our attention and already have the money.

If i was the owners id wait till Jan, see how all falls and where we are. And by then his value maybe higher and bigger clubs could meet a valuation quicker with a buy to stay on loan until end of season. Id really hesitate also to sell to a rival when in truth he is one of the best in his position in this league. And that again says we don't see ourselves as rival we are already signalling we cant compete.

All wil play out and im sure MR will be in the loop, but COH is not the one id sell.

We have already paid a fee for Palmer haven't we?

They're fair points. But you don't need to sign a Gyo or Hamer every summer - it's nice but not essential. I know we need to move forward and bringing in better players but brining in a Gyo or Hamer every summer doesn't necessarily equate to progression.

MR and his team have demonstrated time after time, that despite the money they do or don't get from any transfer fees, they've always managed to progress the team and the league position.
