Happy to have kept the main players, but it just goes to show that a lot of us have read from generally reliable posters that 'the sale of Hyam won't be enough' and from a lot that SISU would be forcing a 'big' sale as they don't care about us etc. It whipped up a nervous energy on here. I don't think Danny Cashman on loan to Walsall would have been the tipping point in holding off on that. For me, we have replaced JCS (injured again) and Hyam with Panzo and Doyle (albeit one permanent player down. Maatsen replaced with a Palace youngster (who knows the quality, or readiness?). Regardless, Bidwell is fine (if he stays fit, he will be hard to shift). Overall I'm happy with our squad. Need the keeper(s) to settle down, and avoid key injuries and we should start to see us improve. Blackpool will start to struggle now that Bowler has gone, Blues won't move away from the bottom, and we'll overtake Wigan and Rotherham as the season progresses. Operation 20th place is back on

We’ve got a lot on mystic megs (who also like to use a bit hindsight) on this forum, the same people who were predicting one of the big three going and nothing reinvested, are now moaning about where we might be after a few more games and potential valuations of players at Christmas and next summer.
Nobody is saying we’re not in for a tough season but give it a break and focus on where we’re at now rather than second guess the future. As we saw with Ohares ‘sale’ and injury, there’s too many variables to confidently predict anything in football

Backing the team and having concern for our financial situation are not mutually exclusive . After saying on Tuesday that the club essentially has serious financial problems what is the plan, the strategy to get us through? We have been told the problems now we need the solutions. No player sales until January earliest, and this seasons cash flows will be all over the shop with the World Cup shut down, rocketing utility prices, wage inflation (its not just players to pay), inflation generally etc
Personally i don't get any comfort from other teams did, the situation for those teams was different if you look at their financials and the levels of owner support or even the significant player sales also very different. Its a pointless comparison
In one sense retaining the "three" is great news, it gives the team better prospects on the pitch - assuming the results pick up. Boddy statement yesterday was playing to the crowd "didnt we do well". Couldn't have sold at least one of them because of injury. Did any other enquiries even test the owners resolve?
on the other hand we all know we have to sell players to survive, and we have sold one player Hyam for a reported £1.5m. To put that in context that is around one months wages bill. Not selling now probably means that in January it will be essential to do so.
We are also relying on MR to pull another rabbit out of the hat this season to keep us comfortable in this division. How many seasons can he keep doing that

I was absolutely convinced that at least one would have gone. Gykores being the most likely. Am I being too optimistic in thinking that there may be investment / takeover machinations going on, and that this has influenced the need to sell the big 3. As previously stated the Hyam sale is plugging a short term gap.

Yep, think things have been really blown out of portion based off of a few crumbs from ITKs here and there.
No one knows what the situation is. Based on little more than gut feeling I do get a sense that maybe new investment is sniffing around. But we will see and in the mean time I get to watch some quality players.

Exactly. There is no doubt we couldve got decent money in for Vik, Hamer and Ohare, probably Sheaf as well, maybe not some of the valuations being banded around here but still millions. The club have rejected offers that didn’t match their valuations and should be credited for that. This is also in their interests though as there’s no point selling an asset for less than they’re worth unless you really have to, as ultimately it reduces the value of the club.
The Hyam sale was short term cash and gets us through to the next window. By then there might a clearer picture with regards to Wasps and the stadium. If the stadium isn’t up for grabs and a potential sale (of us) isn’t possible, unfortunately I’d expect one of the ‘Big 3’’ is likely to go. But we’ll cross the bridge if/when we come to it

The philosophy isn’t to sell Gyokeres and not replace him (which, well spotted, would likely lead to relegation). The philosophy is to raise funds and improve a squad that, by your appraisal, is a relegation candidate at best anyway. If selling Gyokeres isn’t an option, what’s your alternative?
