Fucking hell. The absolute brass neck on these pricks.

Within 24 hours of becoming chancellor he demanded Johnson's resignation. Now he thinks that stepping down for covering for a sex offender and ruining the government's reputation is an example of getting the big calls right?

Just unbelievable. The contempt they have for the general public. Imagine voting for people like this.

Jesus some Profs just been on and apoerently anyone can sign up to vote in this

Nah, you’ve got to have been a member for three months. But anyone could have signed up before. Tortoise Media got a tortoise, a Brit and a Ukrainian signed up I think who were all fake. So clearly they’re not exactly going through apps with a fine tooth comb.

Listening to Baker and Mogg backed Truss .
Both on opposite sides now .
Maitless this week suggesting she was backed from some for this outcome .
Very conspiracy wieghted but Truss was late entering very slow to build vote.
It really was obvious she was talentless and liable to fail.

Interesting week coming up .
Potential election for NI assembly Friday?
It’s only the decision that comes on Friday, the elections will be in 12 weeks time if it’s called. IIRC the decision could also be direct rule from London. Which again IIRC is what happened after the cash for ash scandal when 2 assembly elections didn’t get the assembly sitting. Sinn Fein stopping it that time over the scandal, DUP stopping it this time over Brexit. I think they will call the election as that’s what happened last time but like last time I don’t think it will resolve anything. Unless the unionist parties are obliterated and the assembly is a combination of republicans and the alliance party. Which I can’t see happening.

Think the unionist parties need to recognise they're close to their last hurrah and should simply coalesce into a single bloc, ditch the socially regressive platform and focus solely on no nonsense economic recovery.

That Daventry MP suggesting the backer's won't publicise support because they have cabinet/gov't positions bloody ludicrous others have even others for Boris.

Even Steve Baker gets it

I’m still kinda hoping he does win though.

Me too.

Although it would continue the pain for a bit (though with a modicum of fun) he's the one most like to continue the car crash that would lead to the Torie losing power.

Sunak and Mordaunt would have an air of competence that would recover their reputation a bit, but would still be bad for the country overall. Sunak is totally out of touch and has no idea of the issues facing most Brits. I fear he'd be more likely to head down austerity routes than investment trying to 'balance the books'.

They’re stuck in the 1970’s. They don’t represent at least one if not 2 generations of Northern Irish Protestants. Gay Protestants want to marry their partners, Protestant women want the choice of what to do with their own bodies. You have a generation that voted for the GFA because they’d had enough of the troubles, you have another generation that were born after the GFA and have an entirely different outlook to other generations. The DUP especially but all unionist parties are dinosaurs, which is ironic in itself because they think dinosaurs are a hoax.

The DUP is stopping it because of Sinn Fein gaining control, Brexit is just an excuse.
Goes to show their will of the people etc stuff is just bullshit.

Yeah, it'll be the same as the last time. London along with teh NI civil service will be in charge.

There's no point running another election as they results will be the same if not worse for the DUP and the DUP will flounce about and refuse to nominate a DFM

The issue with the DUP is they can never ditch their backwards social position as at the heart of their party they are the party of the ultra conservative splinter groups of the presbyterian church. A more progressive unionist party (not the UVF linked PUP) would have a great chance amongst the city's young protestants and the middle class protestants of places like North Anthrim

Sounds like a case for Labour to field candidates in NI

We can't, we have an 100 year old agreement with the Irish Labour Party that they are "labour party" who has the right to field candidates in NI

The UK version of the party unofficially supports the SDLP but they are nominally nationalist

Fair enough wasn’t aware of that agreement

Mordaunt's appearance on Laura K this morning might be the worst leadership bid you'll ever see.

Literally didn't answer anything. I get that you don't want to promise things you can't keep, but you need to offer somebody something , not answer every question with 'I refuse to be drawn on that'

I thought she'd more competent but turns out she's just Truss with a posh accent!

I think when you have people like Suella Braverman and Kemi Bedonoch backing Rishi not Boris it’s not looking good for Boris. I can’t believe that he wasn’t expecting the backing of these 2. The number of declared Boris backers compared to the numbers his team are claiming they have is thinning out every time someone like these two back Sunak and there’s been more than a few assumed Boris backers publicly not backing him today. Looking more and more likely that only Sunak is going to pass 100. Could all be over tomorrow.

All Boris needs to do is get less than a third of the MPs on his side to get it to a members' vote. If he does he will still win
