I don't think Grendel went to school at all.

I reckon he was a street urchin who used to sell hot chestnuts and read the Financial Times over the shoulders of rich elderly gentlemen sitting on benches on Hampstead Heath.

Made his money playing the stock market, after making a killing on chimney street brushes and toffee apples.

That is just a guess though. Could just have easily gone to Ernsford Grange and then the Lanchester Polytechnic.

Isn’t Ashley promising to make Coventry the hub of his business? Sure I read something about large warehouses and moving his HQ here. That’s absolutely huge for the city especially when contrasted with a skint owner who won’t even fund the company they’ve got appropriately.

Let’s say he took us over and then pumped our shirts in all his stores nationwide, providing we keep Hummel and produce good shirts there’s an opportunity for us to sell way more and also win new fans across the land. You only have to look at how well the two tone kit did… imagine that nationwide.

Sometimes fans just buy shirts cause they like the shirt, I remember when I was young I had a Marseille shirt cause they were sponsored by PlayStation and a Leeds shirt cause I liked the look of it.

The other year one of our shirts was voted 11th best in the world, imagine if we had a platform to sell those across the country

“Being able to buy last years Cov shirt at Sports Direct in Aberdeen”
It’s all upside with Ashley isn’t it.

......and it's also absolute nonsense. In the SD shops I've been to in Scotland I never saw a NUFC shirt when he owned them, plenty of the top 6 PL shirts though that may now change.

How real is this Mike Ashley interest he’s the known name and apparent preferred bidder for ACL not confirmed though, supposedly interested in moving the Fraser HQ locally yet I believe he is no longer on that board.
There is apparent interest too from others including the American John McEvoy nothing much been said about that.
Last week I read Warren Barton was at the Blackburn game was that fact or fiction as he is technical director of Carmel Valley Sharks FC based in San Diego ironically that’s where McEvoy is based too. Any thoughts

I have read about this McEvoy and his associates and they are big sports people in that part of America and beyond in various sports including grid iron, hockey, indoor sports like basket ball, skating all sports that could happen at the CBS I’d think, I can see where interest could lie.

The Daily Mail article stating that Mike Ashley was looking to pick up CCFC on the cheap was interesting.
Either it was designed to wind up Joy Seppela or prepare the ground for an initial low bid.
I'm not sure it was a great move.

You don't think it potentially might be the first swipe of them being beleaguered and bullied through the actions of others?

I'd love a bit of clarity in this situation. Really don't know what to think at the moment.

Am I mad in feeling the radio silence from SISU could be a positive? It hasn't been their usual style. They love a catty press release.

Very frustrating as for me the team is so close to being at a standard to push on and challenge at the top end of the division. It is really just squad depth that is holding us back.

You would hope it would factor in to any takeover or investment. If it doesn't come soon I'd imagine we'll have to sell a number of our best players to keep the lights on but that would then reduce the value of our assets. Such a pivotal moment for us coming up I feel.

We all think of SISU as Joy but who else is involved at an executive/board level - can't just be Joy can it?
Her side-kick Dermot Coleman quit as director a year or two back you would think there are others but they have gone from a 30+strong company based in swanky Mayfair to a much smaller organisation somewhere else in London.

Dhinsa, Alki plus several others all happy for the short term publicity/attention. Not a new phenomena.
Yeah I get that. Just can't understand what would possess someone to bring a load of negative attention to themselves. Or is he just one of those sorts?

That Alan Nixon sun journalist saying on Twitter Ashley just wants the ground. Don’t know how accurate he is normally with info.

Think the inevitability of Ashley taking over is a lot further away than people think. Few people now saying he’s not interested in us.
Why would Ashley say anything else at this point, there’s absolutely no need ‘in fact doing so could potentialy prove counterproductive as it would muddy the waters.
If he secures ownership of the arena I’m convinced CCFC would be next on his agenda, but why would he approach SISU or even loosely declare an interest in CCFC until the arena is over the line ‘after all he’d have no use for the club if the arena deal fell through.

I‘m sure he’ll soon have the arena tied up and will then turn his attention to the football club, SISU will already know they have no real alternative but to sell to Ashley, they will also know that he’s a very canny, extremely wealthy no frills businessman who (should they refuse his fair & realistic & possibly slightly generous offer ) will offer less next time and then again ………

So you have got to wonder at their ability to understand and process any kind of bid for the cbs - really do now seem very small time. Not the "we batter everyone" days of yore. They probably don't even have anyone left to write a press release so no wonder we have not heard from them (Joy) for a while.
