Perhaps it is a dream...However I would like to challenge some points you made.

VG chance Ashley will get CBS - Agreed.

SISU are not selling for silly money. Hoffman made an offer years ago and in that time I would hazard a guess and say SISU have lost a lot more since. They could sell the players but if they are going to be like that if I were MA I would wait before making an offer, the losses are going to increase on SISU's side over the next few months and the sale of key players will take huge chunks of that money. MA comes back to the table with a discounted offer.

Ashley sacking Robins would be a huge mistake. The guy has got Coventry to midtable with literally nothing and has made real assets of some of the players. This is not a flash in the pan either, MR recognises what players bring to the club and improves their value.

Just not sure if I’m a 60yo billionaire I’ve got the patience to just wait.

Who knows mate, obviously not if they wanted Ashley to win though.

I was much happier when it looked like the Council weren't involved at all, because to me that would be the proper process.

However there seems to be the clear suggestion that they have been sticking their oar in again, which given the history of the club and ACL isn't something I ever wanted to hear.

A suggestion but no one can explain exactly what they’ve done. Have heavy vibes about how CCC were 100% getting done for state aid, until they didn’t. It would be very naive to think Sisu don’t know how easy it is to suggest the council did something and let fan animosity do the rest.

Just like last time no one was stopping Sisu publicly putting a bid in, they didn’t need 8 weeks of prep for that, it might have been nice but it wouldn’t have changed the bid required to be preferred bidder.

Over the years I know fans have been fed up of SISU and refuse to go to games. Out of curiosity, how many fans would Coventry bring in if the owners change and there was a real chance of success in the future?

Theres no evidence of a Sisu crowd reduction, but honestly I think you’re looking at 25k+ if there’s a real buzz of something happening around the place.

The same fans would switch to NOPM becuase they don’t agree with Ashley’s ownership, those fans simply just don’t go and just want an excuse

My concern isn't whether or not SISU's bid would have succeeded, it almost certainly wouldn't imho.

My concern is, did the Council try to do something to make sure SISU couldn't win.

A bit of early insider information to Ashley and a helpful introduction to Wasps certainly wouldn't have hurt him. We know from our own experience of adminstration that it's not too hard to manipulate the outcome from the inside.

If it was anything else, I'd say it was a conspiracy theory - and it may well be. But anyone who trusts CCC to act openly and honestly hasn't followed the history of the whole arena saga.

They didn’t need to anyway because Sisu didn’t bid. So surely the whole thing is moot?

In all seriousness I don’t think this is likely, i think it’s a fans wet dream (more bedwetters).

My current expectation:

- Ashley buys CBS
- Joy fucks off at the end of the season having sold anything she can
- Ashley sacks Robins and brings in a “name”
- Ashley finds some ex pro to be Director of Football
- We get stuck with a bunch of dodgy signings.
That’s my one concern about the prospect of Ashley buying us. But then again it could be worse, we could end up stuck with SISU.

Yes, in every other town and city in the country. But not this one!

Seems odd though. Surely if you were trying to sell the stadium the first call you would make would be the owners of the football club.

Of course, if the owners are ready to sell then why try to sell players in the January sales, when everyone does, when you can sell them as a whole, if the club is sold.

Don't think you would get a job lot with this.

Unless the club wants to sell someone.

They'll still have there excuses, I support Hinckley Town since moving to Burbage, I've got one of those dodgy boxes so don't need to go, I'm a grand prix fan these days, I do the mother I'm laws food shop on Saturdays etc

If he really has his mind set on building up an EFL club and establishing it, then that combined with stadium ownership would spell a very bright future. Get the club's academy up another notch, upgrade on Ryton etc.

Equally he could just bring in middle managers and Steve Bruce, but a lot of the talk around what he wanted to do at Derby pointed to something quite different from how he operated at Newcastle.

Think he'll do things differently. If Hoffman is around can see him either chairman or chief exec making the football desicions. Unless we keep Boddy🤨

Hopefully we don't hear anything because they are selling and staying quiet.
Hopefully...but nothing has pointed to that yet...
We have Gilbert saying the club are trying to bid, but can't due to preferred bidder exclusivity.
We have Byng spouting off about the Council.
I don't think they are good signs...

Also... Boddys last paragraph sounded desperate and ready to possibly kick off if things didn't go CCFCs way.

Love to believe Ashley and CCFC are talking.... but the cynic in me says not...

Ok
I just hope they're not planning on digging their heels in and hanging around. Only way that can pay off is if we fluke a promotion without them investing which doesn't seem a very high end business strategy
What if their 51% investor still fancies having a go at it, would we care where the money came from to support Robins in the transfer market

Crucially - and me and Nick have said this. fisher and Sepalla have been silent, they’re usually out before shit hits the fan in order to get their point across.

the quieter they stay the likelyhood of Ashley buying us increases

tbf MusicDating made a good point that they'd be stupid to whine until somebody buys the stadium, as it might still be them after all!

It's not moot if the Council actively sought to scupper a possible competing bid is it? Whether SISU could have pulled it off or not is irrelevant, it's appalling conduct if it happened.

The council may well not like SISU, not many of us do either, but that doesn't give them the right to actively and secretly act against them or indeed any other company involved.

Again, I'm not saying it did happen, but there are very strong echoes of the secret sale to Wasps here, so I wouldn't exactly put it past them.
