How come they have changed it so its 2 x games at 3 and 2 x games at 7 rather than through the day?

All games at the same time to make it fair. So no team in that group can know in advance as to what they need from the match.

As JAM said.

So two teams don't have the advantage of seeing what they need to do by playing later and playing out a dodgy draw.

Sure, we know what Wales need tonight for instance, but if the Iran v USA game had already finished, they would be able to make adjustments, which could prove to be to their advantage

I know I should be all fired up at beating Wales but all I care about now is getting out of the group. I genuinely don't care if we do it the most boring way possible.

The knockouts is where we really have to turn it on. If Southgate sets us up shite and we get eliminated early because of it then I'll be calling for his head.

Apparantly Henderson starting over bellingham today
Nuts if true. Sounds like we are trying to match them, when in reality it could be that Wales have to beat us 4-0 and will therefore attack, leaving themselves open for us to hit them on the counterattack.

What better way to do that than to have a player that can pick defenses wide open.

I actually don't think we need someone that can pick defences open for it. It might be as simple as a few longer balls up to Kane to lay off for other attacking players.

I would have gone with

The same keeper and defence then

Foden Bellingham Rice Grealish

Kane

Wilson

Kane is dropping deeper anyway so give the Welsh centre backs Wilson’s pace to deal with.

We have struggled with that though haven't we. Long balls up to Kane and there has been no support, as the players don't get close enough to each other.

I would be inclined to play Grealish myself. One, he wins you free kicks in dangerous positions and two, he gets opposition players booked and therefore they have to be a lot more cautious then going forwards.

I would definitely play Foden too.

Can’t have Iran and the States becoming the new Sunderland.

We should beat this lot whoever we put out. Get Madders and Foden on the pitch FGS. Can go back to shit ball in the knockouts when we’re scared of Ecuador.

I think Bellingham is being rested rather than dropped tbf.

Sounds like Walker for Trippier and Henderson for Bellingham will be the only changes. Hopefully that's not the case and there will be a couple more.

Total madness not to start Foden. And Grealish probably deserves a start too.

I would assume that would give Bellingham license to play much further forward than when he played alongside Rice, ie in the Mount role

I would be surprised if he dropped any of his favourites: Sterling, Kane, Saka, Mount.

Even as has been said, in bigger games we will need to outscore opponents, setting up defensively and playing Henderson, Bellingham, Rice together would be a recipe for disaster. Another sound bite repeated on this thread, but it would be like the Italy game again where a conservative mindset fucked us.

We need to be aggressive and attack if we're going to get anywhere in this tournament.
