Chris Sutton is a bit of a drip isn't he ? As monotone as you can be

Imagine getting knocked out on yellow cards.

You have to think the message will be out to them to go all out for a third.

Especially if that 1 or 2 yellows was dubious aswell.
Be gutted

Edit: they have just said it's 7 - 5 to Mexico on yellows

Poland are still 2nd as it stands because Mexico have had more yellow cards

So wait, hypothetically a team could get knocked out because VAR overturned a decision and a player got booked as a result?

Hope Poland go out, a painful watch. Must be frustrating as hell for Lewondowski up front for these.

Body blow for Mexico, though they were going to score a 3rd.

On a serious note going forward, I worry about southgates record against " bigger " nations and the way he might set us up against them , he's a poor record against big (top 10 ) teams overall

You’d hope he learns from last year. Go on the front foot and use the talent we have, rather than sitting in trying to keep it tight

It's not the VAR people - it was the ref who reviewed it and thought it was a pen. He is a clown!
Maybe we should bring a law in whereby the goalkeeper is not allowed to touch another player at all.

Every time a keeper comes for a cross or for a corner, they inevitably come into contact with outfield players. I think if we just say he is not allowed to touch anything at all except the ball, that would solve it all. Job done.

Then next step, we say he is not allowed to touch the ball either.

I've long thought that 'keepers are over-protected. You can't even jump alongside them without them getting a free kick. But this was just plain nonsense.

Finally Lee Burge would be in the running for England’s number 1 jersey

One of the best interviews i've seen and it was conducted by that dumpling Morgan of all people. Think they've put on a decent World Cup so far and i was very sceptical.

I don't think they've put a decent World Cup on at all.

There is no booze, the stadiums are half full (which makes most atmosphere's crap), and the officiating with VAR is the worst.

A few good games doesn't make it decent, you can thank some of the teams for that only.

No booze! How will people survive without booze in a hot desert where you should really be keeping hydrated?

Worth the homophobia and thousands of dead migrant labour?
Lol you lot and homophobia. I guess we're never holding it in a Muslim majority country then!
The thousands dead is grossly inaccurate reporting as is discussed in this interview.

Well I agree the whole thing is massively hypocritical. I have been banging on about it on off topic threads for years, how all the social justice warriors are too scared to confront Islam on many issues, so go after easier targets. The cowardness this tournament again, is laughable.

A few good games between teams does not make a good World Cup however. I don't agree it has been decent whatsoever. The whole tournament is a shambles. That doesn't mean a few matches cannot be enjoyable though.

Well its more one for off topic, the left wing relationship with Islam is quite hypocritical, yes. But they are in their own country and frankly who is anyone to tell them how to live. I've reassessed my position and I think it's important we had a world cup held in a Muslim majority country.

Can't be arsed to argue whether its been a good WC or not as that's just opinion. Certainly a hundred times better than the South Africa one.

My ‘lot’? Amazing how the corruption which got them the tournament and the obvious flaws are forgotten after a few good games which are nothing to do with the hosts.

Out of interest if I were right wing would I be allowed to criticise the ban on homosexuality there or not?

Knock yourself out but if you think you're going to change their entire culture you've got another thing coming. Do you think its important that other cultures are allowed to host World Cups?

Ah so are you suggesting it’s xenophobic or Islamophobic to criticise a country that treats LGBT people as criminals?

Remind me how they got awarded the tournament before pontificating about tolerance

Absolutely not, i don't use lefty buzz words we've established this. Some might think its Islamophobic, i personally couldn't give a monkeys, its just your opinion. I'm just asking if you think its a good idea for a Muslim majority country to host a World Cup, as nearly all will hold these views? If the answer is no because they are all homophobes (does that trump islamophobia?) thats fine.
All i'm saying is i have reassessed my opinion, having also thought it was a bad idea... i actually think its important. That's all, not fighting you.
