There’s countries with homophobic attitudes and there’s countries who make it a criminal offence to be LGBT. If it’s in the latter and you’re comfortable telling a not insignificant % of people that they should go back in the closet if they want to go to a tournament then fine, I’m not. Drinking alcohol is a personal choice, sexuality isn’t.Absolutely not, i don't use lefty buzz words we've established this. Some might think its Islamophobic, i personally couldn't give a monkeys, its just your opinion. I'm just asking if you think its a good idea for a Muslim majority country to host a World Cup, as nearly all will hold these views? If the answer is no because they are all homophobes (does that trump islamophobia?) thats fine.
All i'm saying is i have reassessed my opinion, having also thought it was a bad idea... i actually think its important. That's all, not fighting you.
I'm not avoiding anything, they probably did bride, as did Russia. Not a great look but here we are. There’s countries with homophobic attitudes and there’s countries who make it a criminal offence to be LGBT. You also keep avoiding that the tournament wasn’t awarded to give different cultures a turn, it was because they bribed FIFA.
No probably about it. I do genuinely find it interesting how little it takes to look past some serious issuesI'm not avoiding anything, they probably did bride, as did Russia. Not a great look but here we are.
What are you going to do about those issues? The World Cup is literally happening right now, you're not going to stop it. I assume you're watching it? So anyway which Muslim country do we hold it in if we want it to be a proper global game? We've established being gay needs to be legal, ok thats fine, makes sense... only one i can see that would be capable of holding a World Cup would be Turkey but they've been written off as a bunch of thugs so i'm not sure where we go from there...No probably about it. Maybe he is gay ?Presumably having a "mental health crisis" (or as we used to call it, he's homesick)
More awful refereeing.
Was there even contact there?
Not the ref though. The VAR official. What the hell was he doing referring it back to the ref?More awful refereeing.
It’s just so dumb. No-one wants it. Apart from maybe TV broadcasters?VAR is a fucking joke.
What is “the left wing relationship with Islam”?Well its more one for off topic, the left wing relationship with Islam is quite hypocritical, yes.
Afraid of criticising their behaviour within this country as they are a minority and minorities are untouchable. But then criticise them for how they act in their own countries and essentially tell them they need to think more like us. Its completely back to front nonsense. What is “the left wing relationship with Islam”?
Errrm, I believe the main problem 'us lot' have is lumping everyone into one box - me with BSB for example.Afraid of criticising their behaviour within this country as they are a minority and minorities are untouchable. Yeah, it's the one thing that sticks in my throat too. The "you lot."Errrm, I believe the main problem 'us lot' have is lumping everyone into one box - me with BSB for example.
So if you decide 'Muslims are bad' because of an incident, then that is a ridiculous and pretty racist thing to say. If, however, you say 'that Muslim is bad' you're getting there, but still stigmitising for no real reason. There's a higher standard put out for a normal, everyday person to need to disassociate themselves from others, which isn't held elsewhere. I don't need to distance myself from neo-nazi gun toting maniacs in the same way, for example. However, I do need to with some, it seems, need to disassociate myself from Pol Pot - rather different than needing to say I'm not General Pinochet.
So, in this world cup, it's the Qatari state at fault, I don't really care what faith they are. At the same time, I'm not going to call for an outright ban because F1, for example, shouldn't go in for sportswashing either, in search of the easy pound or dollar. People go and work in such countries for a tax free salary, and then drink in underground places where the authorities turn a blind eye, which doesn't sit right to me either, but I'm not going to stand with a placard for any of that. I do reserve the right to note the feebleness of us not wearing an armband compared to Iranians not singing their national anthem, however...
As it happens, I've not thought much of the WC for all the reasons stated, including winter, but philosophically it's our time to have a world cup out of season maybe - African Nations Cup runs in our season after all, and the world doesn't revolve around us. Since Mexico 86 and Italia 90 they've got progressively sanitised anyway, so it's an event rather than a passion - maybe this is the extension of that.
Anyway, am only entering this because of the 'you lot' really. I can be an individual with my own view, and not be caricatured by one of you lot. You're entitled to say it's not been too bad a one, but somebody was always going to make an obvious comeback - how about just answering that person instead of making it a sweeping judgement against all lefties or whatever.
And with that... Belgium are shit, aren't they.

Yep just thinking that.Hes so shit
The pitches are starting to look a bit ropey now

It's either offside or it's not.
