That was fucking lovely.

Beat France and it’s all up for grabs.

Lose to France and I think it might be time to move on.

still, this is the most consistent England team of my life. We were shocking before. Southgate can always take pride in bringing back pride in the national team.

Not only our World Cup it’s Southgate’s job on the line on Saturday.

If he’s a tournament manager then he’ll beat France and he’s worth it.

If not he’s dragged us from irrelevance to a force and he should pass it on to someone that will give us a chance.

still, loved that win. Come on England!!

If we beat France I genuinely believe we will win the world cup

It will show how much tactical nous Southgate has. France will have their weaknesses in defence so if we can exploit that we will win!

I'm not a lover of Southgate but to define him and his future in the role by the next match is pretty mad. Even if we lose next game it shouldn't necessarily mean he loses his job. France will also be trying to win the game and tactically outdo us too.

He should be judged on more than just this game and my view is he deserves to stay on, whether we lose to the World Champions or not. He's delivered consistency in performances for a long time, more so than most managers I can remember.

Fuck everything else though.

England won a World Cup knock out game

I’ve booked the day off tomorrow. Let’s go.

It’s coming home

Hmmm..... Although I do think Southgate should be given some praise for last night, I don't believe you can say he got it spot-on.

We could easily have been 2 goals down before we finally took control. The game could have turned out quite differently.

Thankfully he changed tactics a little and had us going longer with the ball, but that took a long, long time before we started to do that. Looked very rickety at the back prior to the first goal, which was definitely against the run of play.

Let's just call it for what it is. It was the same when they were all saying Maguire was back to his best, when we hadn't really met any decent opposition and he had not really been that tested.

A number of mistakes from him last night in that first half.

Anyway, in the end Southgate got it right, but it was hardly spot-on.

We won 3-0 and all of Southgate’s selection calls that were ‘questionable’ were vindicated. Henderson scored, Kane scored and Saka too.

The midfield 3 unit worked very well with Henderson and Rice giving Bellingham the licence to put in the performance he did. Kane looked very good despite being off pace earlier on in the tournament.

The game didn’t go perfectly since we had a bad 15-20m spell where Senegal had good chances. Aside from that, we paced the game well, kept a clean sheet, created good chances and then seen the game out. It was a solid 8/10 routine win again a team who is the highest 2nd seeded team barring Spain.

Besides Otis, how many knockout games have you seen where England won comfortably in the end?

I know. In the end it all worked out perfectly. We should have been 2 goals down though and weren't playing well for the first 25 mins or so. Just saying it could have turned out quite differently had Senegal scored in that spell.

We rode our luck a bit and in the end were worthy winners. But we can't for a second think Southgate got everything right.

I really don’t think Senegal’s chances were that clear cut. Better opposition would likely have converted one of the chances they created. The best chance of the half was Kane’s goal.

The pressure we invited on ourselves wasn’t really down to tactical mistakes from the manager. Maguire, Stones and Saka gave the ball away in pretty poor positions in the first half.

Personally, I’m not that scared of France. Mbappe is the player of the tournament so far, but I genuinely believe we have the better attacking options overall over a 90-120 minute tie. The winner of this quarter final wins the tournament for me.

Until we scored we were poor and against France we would have conceded 3. The two goals killed the game though and in the end we were comfortable.

Where did you get 3 goals from?

Why are people so scared of France? They’re not the team they were in 2018 and have looked vulnerable in defence against v average opposition.

It’s a very tough test, but I think we’ll win 2-1 and our substitutes will change the game for us.

On a side note, with regards to Sterling having to return home because of a break in. This seems to happen every time a player is away at a tournament or if away for a day or two in European games. I'm amazed that that the players don't have a security team guarding their homes (I know they shouldn't have to, and some probably have) as they're almost guaranteed to catch a group of these scumbags almost every tournament.

The two one on ones and the one missed from 3 yards.

I think they were pretty clear cut to be honest. We would have been most disappointed if we missed both those.

Don't get me wrong, I think Southgate in the end got it right, but we set up incorrectly from the off. Luckily he changed it, so definitely deserves praise for that and it worked out just fine in the end.

More peed off with the press to be honest. Has to always seemingly be black or white with no grey areas in-between.

I was just thinking, it's a bloody good job we didn't finish as runners up in our group and then progressed. We would have been playing at 15.00 on Saturday.

I know a lot of fans would still choose their club first, but with a 15.00 kick off for England that would have surely have had attendances hit badly up and down the country for sure.

Just mark Mbappe out of the game - Giroux is a donkey - stay positive , their defence is full of mistakes - come on !

Still think they are a very good side. Always feel they can up a gear if they need to.

I do think we have a chance though, but we need our game plan to be spot-on.
