Desperate stuff digging out a substitution against Forest green really.

As I said, hes not infallible, but our overall problems are nothing to do with subs in L1 or the Swansea game even if they were errors on the managers part.
There is also the complete ignoring of substitutions that have won us games or changed games .. it's a bizarre obsession

@Grendel if you think yesterday's team was not good enough to beat a non league side then you must surely think that Robins is doing an absolutely incredible job to get such a squad to midtable in the championship.

Oh.

Can't have it both ways.

It's not desperate, its one of his weaknesses as it's been an issue regardless of the league we are in.

He gets away with it though because "hands are tied".

Exactly this.

The same people that shout for more subs every week are the same people raging at his team selection yesterday 🤣

It's been happening since our first season back in the league. Yes let's bring on Jordon Thompson, Dacosta and Shipley to change the game.
I think generally gets the subs right. Yesterday's team was totally wrong.

Old recruitment team to blame?

On paper it should have been good enough, within 10 minutes it was obvious it was only going one way.

Some games we have had waghorn, walker and kane on the bench. Who signed them all on decent wages to then bomb them off?

Let's hope with the new recruitment bloke that doesn't happen.

Incidentally, West Brom made 11 changes from their previous Championship starting line up.

I'd imagine their squad depth is very strong? Must be players on 15k+ a week on their bench?

Easy game this management business , viveash and Robins get their heads together on that sideline both with years of proffesional football experience and get the subs wrong all the time .

Mental they're still employed 🙄

Hes not getting away with anything, it's hilighting that his mistakes aren't the biggest issue at the club.

Some of us pointed out what was going on after last Januarys window.

You were calling for Robins head yesterday, you're mad if you think anyonesgoing to do better without proper Championship level investment.

And get a squad that apparently isn't good enough to beat a non league side to midtable in the championship... But still don't know what they're doing 🙄

we’d have won t gane easily if hamer Allen and Gyokeres started the game

Fair enough if he decided to rest then but we could have looked at other things

Dabo had no movement at all so he could easily have started Kane in that game who could have hogged the right wing and fired balls into an extremely suspect keeper - Dabo was no use whatsoever

Burroughs is not a wing back at all and seems incapable of running down the line even when in a favoured left position

A midfield 3 of Kelly palmer and sheaf is asking for trouble - when the opposition have possession the ability to recover is nil. Then they moved wide and neither wing back could prevent crosses or giving away fouls

If he’s not wanting to win the game fair enough but then bringing on Allen and Hamer so late was a nonsense decision

He didn’t react quick enough and started with a formation inviting trouble
Thought you said it was a glorified friendly?

I definitely agree with his game management. I believe that's why he's not been poached from a PL club. For all the incredible work he's done under extremely tough circumstances, his weaknesses are evident.

Because there was no excuse for yesterday. Against strong championship teams, of course.

How many points did we get last season in the last 10 minutes and injury time? How does that fit in to the poor game management narrative?

Most fans have been asking for Tavares to get a game , yesterday was the perfect game to test tavares , and also a perfect chance to rest Vik , id have probably gone sheaf and allen in midfield but again allen has played alot of minutes so another opportunity to rest , its also an opportunity to try get dabo some game time and get him more towards match fitness , which he just doesnt appear to be , there's an awful lot of hindsight merchants in here , FACT - that team should be beating non league wrexham .

Unfortunately football throws us lots of curve balls
You can make some changes but not all of them. Yes maybe try Tavares or Waghorn but not both. Maybe drop Hamer or Allen but not both. Give Dabo a game, or Kelly to get them fit but playing both was a disaster waiting to happen. Add to that bringing in a keeper with no confidence and you really aren't ready to tackle a team who are totally up for the match.

We could have got away with a few changes but not all of these. I just don't get why Robins felt he needed to do this. No midweek match to come this week, loss of income from a potential cup run and loss of confidence from a defeat. Seems really unprofessional to me.

The keepers been out for months and probably is one of the ones Robins was referring to about knocking on his door , if his confidence isn't sorted already he doesn't belong at the club .

This post is the perfect (in hindsight ) example , apologies ..

We should have scored 3 or 4 before half time ourselves

One season out of 6/7? His in-game management wasn't great in his first stint.

He doesn't take risks. There's some managers in the Championship that would have had put Doyle, Kane and Gyökeres on in the first half yesterday. When Taveras went off, he should have pulled Dabo. It was clear as day 20 minutes in that it wasn't working.

He's a good manager but everyone makes mistakes sometimes. He's not infallible.

We have had some benches this season probably on more money than the first 11.

Is the old recruitment team to blame?

Fgr at home in league 2, from memory it was nil nil and be brings on another defensive midfielder rather than try and win.
he brought shipley and ponticelli on in that one

Really ? His in game management was exceptional when we won promotion from league 1 , we lost 3 matches .

He kept us up first championship season, then proceeded to take us mid table , all these things involve good in game management ?

Definitely could have had at least 2 and their second goal was a fluke

If you look back through the post I was saying this before the match. I feared we would be complacent and underestimate them and that's exactly what happened.

He's had 5 full seasons, won an incredible amount of points in the latter stages of games last season, kept a piss poor squad up comfortably the season before that and won the league the season before that!

If we'd started with a strong team we could have been well ahead by half time and then taken players off early second half.

We can say we were unlucky and yes we were to an extent but I feel we got what we deserved by underestimating Wrexham, and thinking we could win regardless of our approach. I feel attitude is often more important than talent in football and yesterday we didn't enter the game with the right attitude. Our complacency showed in the lack of challenge by Panzo and Rose for those headers. It was clear Wrexham wanted it more than we did. So they deserved to win and good luck to them.

Also worth noting that Wrexham made changes too and their fans were not happy with their starting lineup.

5 or 6 changes to a championship side against a non league side making 3 or 4 changes, the championship team is good enough to win. Fact.
