The most important box he ticks is our f**cker.
No he isn’t.
You are just picking figures at the air, I don’t think there is any Premier club going to pay £60k a week for an unproven player at premier level.

Alright fair but point still stands, he will earn a shitload more and play premier league football elsewhere.

I dont see how we get him to stay

He is happy here, he plays every week, I’m certain he will be offered a new improved deal. Every week he scored fans on here are trying to sell him. One day we probably will, but Robins says he’s going nowhere and intends to build a team round him, and there’s another point…we might be in the prem yet.

There is zero chance of anyone offering Vik 100k per week. Madness. He is totally unproven in the Prem. Even on a bosman no team is going to risk that much on him off the bat.

Established strikers from Mid to lower ranking Prem teams seem to be on ~£50-70k per week. He'd have to work incredibly hard to get to that level.

I'm fully resigned to loosing him in the summer but I think there will be a loads of teams interested so we can name our price. No chance he'll risk a year more here if offers are on the table. He isn't 18 he needs to kick on and take the chances that come his way whilst his stock is high

Your inside info also said Big Mike would own the club by now

He's already been offered an improved deal, yet to sign it.

Absolutely agree, so many reasons to want him in your team, strength vision touch, he’s happy to hold the ball up or take it and run at them and more importantly he knows when to do what.
Still a relatively young young player as well.
I would imagine he’s ticking an awful lot of boxes in some quarters.
Tbh I think we may struggle to hold onto him ‘even if we achieved the impossible and got promoted.
If we achieved the impossible, he’d be the only thing to stop us getting relegated.

Villa signed Watkins after only one good season in the championship for £28m and on £75k pw totally unproven in the premier League. Gyokeres will have 2 seasons where he has been one of the standout strikers and is already a full international.

Could be wrong but I would have thought Watkins wage has risen with clauses over the 3 years he has been at Villa. Milestone and England caps etc.

Unless there was a huge investment in the squad alongside a complete overhaul of the wage structure, I don’t think even he could prevent us going back down.
I honestly think people will be surprised at the calibre of club that will be after him

I do genuinely think the top clubs in Europe, even champions league clubs, should be looking at him, if only as a backup

Nah not yet. It'll be mid to lower end Prem teams fighting it out for Vik. I could also see one of the data driven European feeder type teams that hoover up raw talent, polish them up and flip them to massive clubs.

No super elite team will bother until he has banged in goals in a top teir league. He has missed the boat age wise to be a 'prospect' gamble I reckon

Improving all the time, could go to any club, they will see and be hearing what every championship manager is saying.
He did the right thing to stay here in the last window, he will have better choices in the summer and if his form continues, 20+ goals but add in the assists now which are rapidly increasing then that makes a very good bargain for any team. You don’t find many strikers who create the level of chances for others.

regardless of Watkins, Toney etc, a lot depends on a bidding war and how desperate a club is to need money versus where the player wants to play. There is so much money available it could be a crazy fee as much as it could also be something minuscule. Who would have thought what Wilson or Maddison could go for now from when we first sold.

Let’s make the play offs, win them and then keep him to ourselves, best option all round (we can dream a little and have a little hope) 🤞

Yeah I agree with all that

I want him to stay but the only reason he would go to a lower PL team is that the top teams don't buy players from championship teams. Just look at Vardy, Mahrez & Maguire, the latter 2 only went on to bigger teams after Leicester. Last season when Burnley signed Wieghorst I commented that they were very similar in style. Would we swap Vik for him? Maybe but could Vik replace him at Man Utd? Absolutely he could but probably won't for the reason I've already given. If he did join Man Utd he wouldn't have 3 or 4 defenders on him all the time because of the quality of players he'd be playing with, you can't mark Vik & leave Rashford, Sancho, Fernandez etc unmarked. I don't know how much he'd go for in the summer but it has to be more than £20m.

Transfers are based around the value to the purchaser not the seller. I.e he might be worth 25m to us, but to an Everton he ain't. However a newly promoted team as a starting player might be more tempted to hit our higher valuations.

Not a bad fee for a dogshit player that no championship team would be interested in and was only worth 100k.

Stunning negotiation work from Dave Boddy I'm sure you'll agree.

Seems like both Fisher and Steve Waggott lied about the fee then. Who’d have thought?
