Howley started well on Saturday, faded ambling about then looked decent again and then faded again, he had a few decent touches and looked fucked when they scored their goal so maybe a rest from the starting line up tomorrow so maybe Maguire will make his full debut(gulp), possibly Walker starting instead of Godden who played the full 90 on Saturday but I would imagine largely unchanged if no one was injured

Godden scored and I thought had a half decent game.

Wouldn't surprise me to see this called off.

Non stop rain In Wigan since last night for 3 days. Not renowned for the best pitch there either

Do we ask about every player who is subbed off?
Nope, but it can a natural thought depending on the player and the timing of the substitution can't it?

If Robins took Gyokeres off after 63 mins, wouldn't we all be wondering why? McFazdean has only just come back from injury and he was thrust back in quite quickly with little training, seemingly, so I think it's quite natural to wonder if he might have been carrying a knock or not quite able to last the 90 mins.

For me, I had no idea that McFazdean had been a tactical substitution in the past, so that makes sense. But if you look through the match thread on Saturday, there were quite a few posts thinking that it was a very strange substitution to make.

Talking Vik here. How many yellows is he on ? I know he’s picked a few up lately just read Sheffield Uniteds’ McBurnie on nine is one away from a two match ban.

Think we looked a little jaded on Saturday. Vik definitely, Hamer (2nd Half) and that's the worst I've seen Fadz play this season. Slightly surprising as we didn't have a midweek game. With Allen & Palmer not back until after the International break I think Robins needs to use the squad for the next 2 games. Think Blackpool will be the harder game, so I'd shuffle it around a bit Walker for Godden, Panzo for Doyle, Sheaf for Hamer (if Sheaf is fit) Cuffy for Dabo and McGuire for Howley.

Fadz. definatly tactical add strenth to midfield thank goodness it worked would have been an injustice losing.I thought Hull were 1 of the better defending sides we have had here this season.Thoughts are Wigan will have to try and get the 3 points in their position and us counter attacking could be rewarding .Same starting 11 for me.

That’s more like a new deck than a shuffle

We've got our tickets, so looking forward to this one. Huddersfield was certainly worth the trip, so hopefully Wigan will be too. Oddly though, I had to collect the tickets after the game on Saturday as I apparently I hadn't paid for postage. Looked like I had, but didn't quibble too much as it's difficult picking up tickets as I don't live in Cov.

Possibly put Sheaf in for Eccles and Maguire for Howley.
I think we need the extra experience and the fresh legs for 2 tough away games.

I'm just hoping Vik and Hamer dont pick up injuries with the heavy workload.
Drop Eccles - MotM in my opinion on Saturday - surely not.

If Sheaf is fit, which is unlikely, play Sheaf and Eccles in the holding roles and get Hamer to pay further forward in place of Howley

Failing that Maquire for Howley. It is a bit devil and the deep blue sea. Howley not really ready nor creative enough; Maguire clearly does understand how we play - passes to nobody in particular on Saturday - but is at least a kosher number 10.

Would go for this after the end to yesterdays game:

Wilson

Dabo
McNally
Doyle
JWE

Sheaf
Hamer
Eccles

Gyo
Walker
Maguire
Dabo at right back and JWE at left back would be suicide. They are a physical side and their big bullys will target Dabo and JWE. Doyle cant head the ball either so that back four scares the shit out of me.

Literally only one defender who can head the ball.

A fair few people talking up Maguire but can't say he impressed me too much on Saturday when he came on. He might well be a better attacking option than Howley I guess, but I think Howley gives more balance to our midfield. Of course Howley might need a rest after 2 physically hard games played at a pace he will not be used to, so MR might need to change it anyway, but all being equal I would be happy for MR to stick with Howley. One starting change I think he might make though will be to bring in JWE for Bidwell.

Robins mentioned he will be involved . I actually thought Burroughs was strong when he came on also
Both Burroughs and Howley showed a major problem of the jump from U21 to Championship - the off the ball running. It's the sheer intensity required at this level. Once dispossessed you have to respond very quickly, like Dabo does, and neither of them did. Not sure Howley has the acceleration. I think I remember similar comments about Eccles when he covered at right wing back, but he is up to speed now and also reads the game really well.
