Bloody hell.

"A Russian fighter jet fired a missile at a manned British surveillance aircraft flying over the Black Sea in September but the munition malfunctioned, according to U.S. defense officials and a recently leaked classified U.S. intelligence report. The incident was far more serious than originally portrayed and could have amounted to an act of war."

TBF putin has ordered chemical attacks on British soil twice and we did nothing. Litvnienko and the Sailsbury one. Bloke does what he wants without reprocussions

Yeah that’s true. I think this would be different though, given the current situation and the fact we’re currently supplying arms against Russia.

I don’t think it would be all out war by any means, but there would be a reaction of sorts.

What reaction was there to the poisonings?

It’s about time we suspended all the golden visas and freeze all assets of Russian nationals subject to proper scrutiny and investigation like there should have been in the first place. Including Boris’ mate he put in the Lords, which should have it’s own investigation on why he was given a place in the Lords in the first place, especially considering the news that broke over the weekend about the Kremlin celebrating his appointment to the Lords. They’ve took the piss for far too long. Then move onto Chinese with golden visas once the Russians have been investigated.

Talking of investigations into Russian behaviour. We still haven’t seen the Russia Report into their involvement in our democratic processes. Probably have to wait for a change in government before we see that.

What is incredible about the idea that Ukraine shouldn’t have to give up its own territory?

What’s incredible is you don’t condemn behaviour regardless of the side it’s on

We have I am sure posters on here who went and fought in Iraq - we were the invaders. So you’d be ok with an Iraq soldier gloating and ringing the spouse of a dead uk soldier - actually you’d say it’s fine as we were the invader and the soldier and his spouse deserve that?

Where on Earth did I agree with that?

Ain’t it funny. Russia commits atrocities left right and centre, mass graves, mass war crimes including beheading and from certain quarters it’s all the west antagonised them, they shouldn’t poke the bear etc. a Ukrainian soldier does something that at the end of the day pails into insignificance in comparison and it’s faux anger o’clock.

For the record I think the footage is despicable, not sure it counts as a war crime but in comparison to beheading a POW with a knife it hardly makes the soldier Pol Pot. Can’t say the same about the Russia.

If he does get in I can’t imagine the same level of funding will be available, which would end it pretty quickly.
For sure he’ll cut the funding, he is Putin’s Vichy president, or should that be First Lady? He’s certainly Putins bitch. Not sure it will end it, if anything it will drag it out longer. Not sure Europe has the luxury of turning their back on it. It’s on our continent and we’re already invested.

saw an interesting roundtable of former US & European intelligence heads and politicians discuss this last week. They concluded Trump playing to his audience but the reality is US needs European alliance/support due to the increasing closeness of Russia & China. He may apply pressure to get Ukraine to make some concessions but can't afford to let Russia get too much so wouldn't pull the plug enough to allow Russia to hold everything it has taken.

No doubt about that but I doubt Europe would be able to replace the USA’s amount of funding.

The west has been taking part in enforced regime change over the last couple of decades and killing innocent people - there wasn’t the same level of concern then.
It’s kind of an irrelevant argument though. The fact is Putin wholesale has invaded another country. Another country that is a democracy and willing to fight for it. That’s just a fact.

We invaded another country

The west also “wholesale invaded” another countries. If they’d had the level of funding going to Ukraine I’m sure they’d also have been able to put up a fight.

And I don’t know anyone who doesn’t think that Tony Blair isn’t a war criminal, either at the time or retrospectively including a cousin of mine who fought in the first gulf war. I’m not sure what your point is unless you’re arguing that 2 wrongs make a right.

indeed - the US would at will invade other countries - always have and always will if it strategically suits
