According to some of there fans they dint get out of 3rd gear on Sunday and will be a cake walk....
Yes I'm sure their players were basically treating a play off semi as nothing more than a pre season friendly. Weird that they've never got out of 3rd gear all 3 times we've met this season though.

Middlesbrough getting cocky saying Vik is a ‘fraud’ cause he hasn’t scored in the last two games, local nightclubs already promoting their ‘We’re going to Wembley’ parties

They think they are going to steamroll us - Be hilarious if we turn up and win

Can see Gyokeres putting in a performance on Wednesday. Might be the last time we see him a Sky Blue shirt

I fear these knocks and injuries in midfield are finally going to catch up with us.

Hamer and Eccles carrying knocks.
Sheaf and Allen seemingly not fully fit.
Plus of course O'Hare and Palmer out

Leaves us with... Liam Kelly as the only fully fit midfielder!

Agree. If it hadn't been for all those injuries things would have been a lot different, automatics maybe.

From Jim Brown on Twitter:

"The last time Coventry City lost a home FA Cup tie 4-3 was in 1967 to Newcastle. They recovered to gain promotion to the First Division three months later. An omen?"

I'm all for positive omens at this point!

But didn't come on yesterday. That tells you everything you need to know about his fitness levels post injury unfortunately

True. But then why have Sheaf on the bench at all if he can't offer anything through injury?

Am I missing something? We've lost shed loads of home FAC matches since 1967.

I did wonder if it was the plan all along to give sheaf a few more days to focus on get right for the second leg though

I’ve got a feeling they’ll be one or two changes for Wednesday

i would hold panzo back for the last 20 , same with Wilson Esbrand,
Also would be good for extra time the additional energy if needed
Maybe. Mcfadz 2 games in 4 days in these conditions will be tough.

I really think one of the 3 must go forward in this set up (like we did in 2nd half) this is more Panzo game than Mcfadz.

But on the other hand we really need to make our aerial dominance count. Hamer put in one or 2 great corners that were just begging to put in the back of the net. Missing loads of tricks. Theres many little tweaks we can make. But for me one of the back 3 have to push up to support.

We had 11
Just wondering I had a shite view side on. But it seemed like that bullet shot from Hamer was on target? That hit the defender. It seemed at time he struck it very well would have tested the keeper for sure it seems. Clutching at straws. Lol

Did seem at times they nullified us so well we didnt have many chances to shoot from distance.

Let’s remember they only had 2 shots on target. At least we had almost twice as many total shots.

Presuming Eccles & Hamer are fit I would bring in Allen & Sheaf for Godden & Kelly, although it wouldn't be too surprising to see Eccles dropping out instead of Kelly. We have to change things a little and give Middlesbrough a different challenge than they have faced in the last 2 games.

While the idea of playing Godden is to support Gyokeres, in some ways it has clearly stifled him instead. With the 2 of them playing up front Gyokeres has stuck to the left side making him more predictable to mark. Earlier in the season, when up front on his own, he was also making runs to the right, from where he scored a few goals, including against Boro. If Gyokeres has the freedom to roam the front line it makes it harder for one marker to stick to him, without the opposition defence losing its shape, and given the likelihood is that Giles will try to be more of an attacking force on Wednesday night I would prefer to see Gyokeres looking at running into the space he vacates when doing so than Godden. Of course if we do play Gyokeres up front on is own it is imperative that our wing backs and midfield are not slow in supporting him, which could play out if we are over cautious.

Another factor none of us really want to think about is penalties. If they happen then we definitely need Godden on the pitch come the end of the match. Walker is another one who can take a penalty, but is he fit? Not seen any reason given as to why he wasn't on the bench yesterday. Having Godden, Gyokeres and Walker on the pitch at the same time would be a tad risky, so it could entail a last minute tactical sub in such circumstances!

Also on penalties, did anyone see the end of the Notts County play off final? They brought on a younger much taller sub goalie on, just before their penalty shoot out, which I'm sure had some kind of psychological effect on the Chesterfield players, enough to make a difference anyway. Would be no point us bringing on Moore for that purpose as his penalty record was pretty poor as I remember. Wilson's is better, but isn't Cian Tyler a bit of a giant? I suspect its not something MR would consider, more for the affect on Wilson I guess, but I bet doing so would pschologically get to a couple of their potential penalty takers if he did do that.

There were a couple of blocked shots that wouldve been on target. Vik had one when he cut inside box second half, defender dived full length and blocked. They defended really well both in how they set up and last ditch efforts to block/intercept.

Both teams set up really not to lose first and win second, standard first leg game unless early goal opens things up.

Exactly. We had the better of the game from 30-35 min onwards. Just struggled to break them down which happens especially without ohare and palmer on pitch

As others have said, complete bollocks that they're content with that game and performance, and 'didn't get out of third gear'. They shaded it, I thought, but did nothing in the second half and let us dominate, though we didn't create much.

Anything can happen on Wednesday night. Even if we'd won 1-0 on Sunday, I'd be worried we'd sit back and Boro would play with the hand-brake off.

Need Vik to get the better McNair.

More like need other players to get forward and support him.
