Luton had 1 yellow card in 120 minutes of football yesterday. Madness. Why didn't he book the Luton(s) player for taking Palmer out?

Luton are a very good team. We underestimated them.

they are powerful, effective at what they do and battered us 1st half.

They'll do ok in the Premiership. They'll be up for every game at Kenilworth road and have a very good atmosphere. Many prem teams won't fancy it

Here we go. Whining starts
Mate your on the forum of a team that just missed out on the Premier League on penalties after 2 decades of shit. Luton probably edged it on the day just with that first half where we were fucking shite, but Hamer stays on I think we possibly go on to win, I guess we'll never know.
Its a great story for Luton, but with respect, right now we couldn't give a shit so maybe give it a few days if you expect rational conversation hey.

When VAR overturned their goal after Panzo had his short circuit I thought that we were destined to win the thing.
But really, they could and should have been out of sight in the first half an hour
However, they weren’t out of sight. The dream was still on and we were pressing. The penalties were good, even though I couldn’t watch all of them. Not sure what happened to the last one other than to say that my legs were like jelly, me standing 17 yards away at the top of 536.

Kelly I thought would. Eccles strikes me as the type to take a decent pen. Very surprised we didn’t see Fadz, Panzo or Bidwell step up TBH. Would have picked all of those over Dabo who has never been able to strike a ball cleanly (hence his goal record)
Eccles looked terrified too, but fair play it was a decent penalty. Really thought Bidwell, when his dead ball ability and experience, would have been on it. Also thought McFadzean, but a bit surprised he lasted 120 minutes so maybe he couldn't walk that far!

I think they were bigger of course, we changed our game like we did when Middlesbrough were bossing it in the first leg.

Our second half worked. They became tired and we looked like we might snatch it.

Gyo and Hamer will be off. Relegated clubs all strong, a whole load of others too. This was it.

And it’s been taken by an anonymous shithole in Bedfordshire
...who finished 10 points ahead and given the chance of snatching the last promotion spot, we couldn't beat over 120 mins.
No complaints here, two very good players gave us our dayin the sun.

One of those morning where you wake up and realise it’s true and not a dream… It just doesn’t seem right that you can make the playoffs, go to extra time to lose on penalties.

The game went exactly how I thought it would. Tense, cagey, extra time and pens. Out of the other playoff teams I would have liked it to be Luton to go up but I just couldn’t see them being in the premier.

Proud of the club, players, fans and the city. I worry Hamer and Gyokeres will be difficult to replace and there will be a lot of the squad changing but somehow MR always keeps us moving forward.

I meant to add. Kudos to Luton for keeping it going after Lockyer went off. I thought he had clashed heads or something but saw the footage and he just drops to the ground. It must have been pretty chilling knowing he was being taken off to hospital on oxygen. All the best to him hope he recovers and is able to play again.

If you told me yesterday morning we'd lose on penalties I'd have told the missus to lock the medicine cabinet and hide any sharp objects.

But I'm not as gutted as I thought I would be, it Hurts, but I believe Robins and Viveash will get us there eventually.
Big changes in the summer, just got to get the recruitment right.

Surrounded by them waiting at the tube station, looking elated, reliving the game, excited about the future. You don’t get that at home.
You must have stayed around. I left after the players did their thanks. I’m not sure I’d have been able to stay around like you did.

I was ok at the end yesterday, but have woken up feeling absolutely gutted this morning, but I think you're right about Robins and Viveash, we've improved our league position every season under them, a big summer ahead if they want that trend to continue.

Injuries fucked us really. I'd imagine jwe was part of the plan, certainly last 15 his energy and directness would have terrified their tired defence.

Ultimately a freak landing from Gus has cost us not only an extra pen taker but maybe an extra 2 others through bringing Palmer on and then off again

It's a mystery to me why a player who has taken part in a game but been subbed off can't be used to take a penalty in a shootout, I get it with injured players but a manager should be able to call on anyone who's had minutes on the pitch, rule change please

Yes, I think if Hamer stays on we win, his influence was growing and against their tired legs would only have increased.

It’s always been hard supporting a club like City
Growing up in a city when back in the days , more kids in your class supported Leeds, United or Liverpool . When you’d play on the street or in the park, and everyone pretended to be Best or Keegan
I always dreamt of going to Wembley
Why could my team never get there ?

Why was it always someone else’s team that made that special pilgrimage ?
Getting knocked out in a Leage Cup 2 leg semi final away at West Ham , hurt.
It hurt real bad. Having to go to school the next day with the Wembley dreams broken.
Again , I thought “we will NEVER get there”

That was over 40 years ago
But we DID get there
We HAVE had our special days there
Yesterday just didn’t quite end as we wanted
But at least we were THERE

At least we had a chance of glory
At least we had that hope
The excitement of going

How many of us really thought we’d be there yesterday with a sniff of the premier league ?
The way we were schooled at home against Norwich, back in January
Or only last month, when Stoke slotted 4 past us at the CBS
Not sure we all “believed” we’d get our day in the sun then.

The belief started after Wilson’s goal away at Blackburn. That was one of those special moments about being a City fan
You’d have thought we had won the league that night in the away end.
Every result fell for us since that night
( and make no mistake about it, we were shocking that night, very poor),
But we battled out a point, and that point gave us the one thing we crave for when you support a provincial team
It gave us HOPE
We rode our luck since then.
We dug in, we battled , and the way all other results went , the stars nearly aligned for us.

The city was buzzing again , we felt proud of our club , we were off on yet another March to the Arch. A journey that as a child I thought I would never have the pleasure of making.

I was annoyed by the apathy of some of those around me in extra time . Why were they not up on their feet screaming the lads on. Expecting tired legs to slog up and down the pitch when they couldn’t be arsed to get off their seat to roar the lads home in that final push. Evacuating the stadium almost immediately , instead of clapping the team sat dejected on the pitch, until your hands were sore

Yes I feel empty, yes I feel drained , and my voice is more than a bit hoarse

I don’t begrudge Luton their victory. I don’t know why, as the same sentiment probably wouldn’t have been directed at Sunderland if we had met them there yesterday

There is no shame to losing on penalties
None at all. We gave it a shot
We were THERE
Supporting a club like City isn’t easy
Its Not a glory trail, it’s about those rare times when we have hope
I’m proud of our team
They gave us that hope

Play Up Sky Blues

Slept on it. Feels worse than the relegations I've experienced at the moment. Wish we'd just fallen short of the play offs tbh.

I understand the sentiment and of course it hurts but think back to elation of getting into the play offs, beating Boro away and then having the build up to Wembley yesterday. For me, might be a bit of a cliche, but far better to dare to dream and fail, than never dream at all

I watched the post match interviews when I got home as no chance of sleeping, even though I was shattered and Robins got it spot on with his assessment and outlook

After the first half I thought we could be in for a trouncing. The two lads up front for them were brilliant and their midfield was winning every second ball.

Second half we were much better, without creating as much as Luton did.

Felt less gutted when I got in to my flat and was greeted by all of the pets.

Can't bring myself to watch the full highlights but re-watched Hamers goal - the only player we currently have who you want in that position. Excellent composure and finish and I'll remember that moment forever.

Thought Luton deserved it more than us on the day and also taking into account them finishing 3rd with considerably more points. I hope they have an enjoyable season and glad it was them out of anyone else.

This summer is massive. I really don't know what to expect other than Gyokeres and Hamer to go. I just can't see us competing to that level next year but perhaps that's just my own personal mindset.

Woke up really angry this morning , so close to a year of PL trips to Anfield , Old Trafford , Stamford Bridge etc

Instead we’re going to be watching fucking Plymouth , Ipswich etc because a professional footballer can’t hit the target from 12 yards, useless clown.

I hope Luton get spanked every week next season and I will take great pleasure in seeing it. Fucking tinpot club with a shithole of a ground

That was the chance and its gone now. Next season will be a tough one trying to make top 6
