Hopefully the club have got an extensive waiting list as I believe there's around 30 box holders protesting so far and refusing to renew. Inevitably there will be more that would've opted out too.
Presumably it will price out many on the waiting list but we’ll see.

Its only a licence - remember the criticsm aimed at SISU when Frasers invoked the original licence?

It may only be a licence but considering the history we have as a tenant at this stadium, do you really think a new landlord would just want to go all in and agree to give us everything our new owner asked ? With all the previous acrimony between all parties, I doubt ACL and SiSu combined could find their way to the nearest estate agency, let alone complete a tenancy agreement.

Glass half full. It's 5 years of relative stability where we can work with Frasers to improve our standing toward a lengthy tenancy agreement/partial ownership. Whereas the last incumbents on both sides couldn't give us 5 months without drama.

Yeah, the guy's still getting the building into the way he wants it. Let's give him half a chance at least. Glass half full. Though if DK comes through with half the things he's said, I'm expecting a full refill :) 🍻

How many of those are shouting now but will be banging on the CCFC door in the last week of preseason ? It's the proverbial game of Chequebook Chicken. Everyone thinks they have the club over a barrel due to the known financial issues and it's who blinks last, wins. We'll probably only know the answer to this when the season starts properly and we have to sell two or three first teamers to get us out of whatever manure pile we've ended in :) 💩 🤮

What alternatives was he offered ??

Not knocking your original point but we don't know and I doubt we'll ever be told officially. Maybe the reporters of our local press outlets could find out through their sources ?? Either DK has welded the information leaks shut or there isn't anything for them to report on but it's quiet, something we're not used to :)

Business transparency can only go so far and some things then have to be taken at face value. But thinking everything is a coverup or an attempt to defraud the fans will only divide and create more negativity within the fanbase when we should be looking to recover from the last 10ish years of mismanagement. Perhaps after so many years of cynicism and distrust, I'm being too naive but I'm just looking for a positive next step, and then hopefully another after that.

Just catching up with this long thread, but a few thoughts:

1. A five year plan is normal business practice, it should be refreshed each year so that it remains current. It should not be a determinant of his intention to leave in 5 years
2. He spoke well, he seems open to speak with the media regularly, he said as a much at the end. JS & SISU were practically invisible to any media scrutiny. Let's see how this develops over the season, so far so good IMHO
3. He has listened to fans feedback on ST pricing before and he lowered the proposed prices for this years ST's quickly. I'm pretty sure the Exec box holders are hoping a similar level of dissonance will result in a reduction in their renewal prices - let's see
4. The commercials around Exec boxes are pretty intangible to those that buy them. They are usually reserved for use by clients of the box holder under the banner of "corporate entertainment". Such event experiences result in loyalty to that business = more sales/profit. I doubt that even the hefty increase from £9k to £25k per season would not be returned many times over in the business generated through goodwill from those box holders who use them for business purposes. Clearly this wouldn't apply to those who used them amongst a group of friends/family, but most boxes I've been in is typically 1/2 hosting clients and the rest are invited guests that don't go every week. An invite is a luxury.
5. His response to Vik's media comments was really good, hopefully it'll help us secure top dollar for him

Still lots to play out with DK, but he's made a good start. Let's hope it develops further?

A 5 year plan usually assumes there is a year 6 or sets up for year 6
Which is why I asked if had any alternatives- if he settled to have 5 years and no option to extend then 5 why. Are you assuming at the end of year 1 he will review and revise his 5 years

Exactly the last point, it'll be revised every year. Year one is dropped off, new 5 year plan picks up from there. Many businesses have 1, 3 and 5 years plans. It can be an interminable nightmare as you're always updating the bloody things!

But he has a defined end date after then he has to have an alternate location or plan B. Can't wait to see what he says about year6

He has a further limitation in that he has to play in Coventry so his options a very limited

Yep, I imagine there are already renewal clauses in place and options based on promotion? If not they’ll be keen to lock it down asap.

Doubt if either of them - defeats the objective of a licence. That is the right to determine if they want

Convinced that GIMOC is Dawkins in disguise. Some actual insight, vague transfer rumours, Constantly ranting about Executive boxes despite "not sitting in one myself", only turned on King since box prices were increased. Dawkins tweeted about Hamer contract offer, GIMOC posts about Hamer contract offer.

GIMOC is on twitter I believe but close to Dawkins lot

And the fact we have a squad of about four players right now.
Lots of fans accepting the line of we need to increase our prices to increases revenue to put out a better quality on the pitch.

If that doesn't come to fruition fans are gonna turn on King very quickly after all the price hikes

This is the thing. He’s making big gambles that will hurt him if they don’t pay off. But that’s the deal with being the owner I guess.

The price hikes are simply to move us to average championship charges ….. they won’t guarantee any kind of success.

Any new owner looking to run it as a competitive business would do the same.

it’s a bit pathetic trying to hold the club to ransom because they think it’s their divine right to rip the club off

Ultimately it's the club's issue though and as such they should shoulder the blame, not the box holders. Understandably the prices were initially set in order to coax fans back to the Ricoh and plenty took advantage but why wouldn't they? Those were the prices set by the club. Realistically the prices should've gone up significantly last year rather than keeping them well below market rate - and the fact they didn't just once again highlights is the failings and incompetency of our commercial department.

Trying to correct it overnight to set it more in line with the rest of the league was always going to cause uproar. Frankly it's a comical move and the fallout could've been mitigated significantly with a bit of planning and due diligence.

Yes. As I keep saying making comparisons with other clubs is nonsensical, the only relevant benchmark is what is being paid currently. I am surprised King does not seem to understand this.

They could have staggered the rises but in the meantime they’re turning down money (assuming they sell at the new price) and people would only complain prices had risen 2-3 years in a row.

Better to rip the plaster off IMO.

The club will never make money at this level.
So you keep saying and I don’t disagree. However, they still have to bring in as much income as possible and reduce losses. Then any profit from player sales has more chance of ending up on the field.

Well it isn't because barely any box holders are renewing. At least by staggering the rises over 2-3 seasons it would've allowed the club to find its ideal price point.

As both I and others have said aligning themselves with other Championship clubs straight off the bat doesn't work as there's so many variables needed to be accounted for first.

The other thing is some of the competitors I assume have far better facilities and offerings. 3 course meals, bars etc the Sunderland package looks vastly superior
