Buyout clauses in Spain (and probably Portugal too) have to be inserted into every contract by law (Royal Decree)
The buyout clause is 'supposed' to be proportionate to wages and length of contract to allow players the possibility to buy themselves out of their contract eg Neymar, but some are now in excess of £1b which is frankly ridiculous.

Where has the sell-on been quoted? I’ve not seen anything outside of SBT.

£20.5m and 35% of any profit would be pretty damn impressive.

Lameires has a £50 million release clause. Its supposed to protect an employee from being forced to stay when he wants to leave

Can only think that there is a snag somewhere and we may be holding it up our end?

Something doesn't seem right it's taking this long. I mean, he landed there 24 hours ago... how long does it take to do a medical, agree terms (already would have been agreed before) and picking up a pen to sign a piece of paper?

The fee and add-on's would have been agreed in advance in writing before with CCFC so what's holding it up?

Nothing? He will already have signed it just hasn't been announced

It’s been due in the next 24 hours for at least two weeks now.

Declan Rice had his medical at Arsenal at the weekend and still hasn’t been announced.

This was reported alongside the €20m bid. As it’s now increased to €24m I’d expect the sell-on clause has reduced.

Didn’t someone suggest that in Portugal it’s customary for the sell-on fee to be calculated on the full sale price, rather than just the profit?
