Accepting that we were in a shit position at the time, he’d have been commanding similar fees to gyro’s transfer.

No midfielder in league 1 ever was signed for anything like that

It was said that there was detail re the financials still to sort, payment schedule etc (at the end of last week.) It's a very large amount for both clubs so they'll be feeling their way I guess.

To be fair haven’t we ultimately received around 6/7m for Maddison? We’ve not done too badly out of him
It’s turned out to be a good deal over time, and we’ve been fortunate with how his career has panned out, but compared to the deals for Delph and Alli (two clearly inferior players) it seems a bit pedestrian.

For a few seasons Alli was the best AM in the country, it’s just in recent years his head has gone

You’re thinking of the Dele Alli of the last 2 years, back in 2018 he’d come off a season where he’d scored 15 goals and clearly looked like a main stay in Englands team. Dele Alli on form is as good as if not better than Madders

Delph was also a good player, not an AM but a very good DM

Sporting really need to wait another two hours before announcing it or the people on their forums will be shown up.

Executive Chairman Doug King said.

"After a long discussion, we have finally concluded a deal that is right for all parties concerned and confirm the transfer of Viktor Gyökeres to Sporting Lisbon.

"Viktor has made a huge impression in his time with us and leaves many great memories and we wish him every success with his new club.

"Once again, the quality of the coaching staff at our club has been showcased.

"This is a record transfer fee for Coventry City but as is normal will be paid over an extended period, with Brighton & Hove Albion taking a meaningful percentage share.

"We have already been active in the market as we rebuild for the new season and will continue to recruit selectively but these funds will also support the extensive infrastructure projects the club is undertaking."
