Ok that’s fair enough.

But it’s common knowledge that when you receive big money for a player, as soon as you get the negotiating with another club for a new player, the price is inflated. He is protecting against that imo.

I just think you can come across as anti Doug, which if I am honest is astonishing considering what we’ve put up with for years.

I probably do come across anti Doug, however I'm pretty ambivalent towards him at the moment

He does some great things, some strange things, jury's out I suppose, il judge him end of the window

And I get that, the club wont want to show their hand, but again cant be sitting their saying 'we want play offs minimum 3 out of the next 5 years' and then proceed to try and make out were still poor, especially off the back off the record ST Sales etc

So you do not expect us to make that type of transfer?
A club record transfer ? No
I expected replacements but not Simms in a million years
As long as we replace players with better than we release then we are moving forwards . And that's not in anyway suggesting Simms is an upgrade on Vik currently but he has huge potential like Vik had when we signed him

Who gives a f*&k where some of the money is coming from or going?

We've got new pitches at Ryton, a seemingly decent replacement for Vik, exciting young Japanese fella in, MR and AV on 4 yr deals, new pitch at the CBS.

Enjoy the f*&king ride and stop getting worked up on every single word Doug says. Sometimes a turn of phrase can be taken totally the wrong way. It doesn't matter.

Despite losing Vik (I'm pretty gutted - pretty much a generational striker for us) there's soooo much to be positive about and look forward to, next season.

Some people love a moan for the sake of it. It's unhealthy....

Oh I like the signing Martin and credit where credit is due

I’m just referring to a potential dampening on expectations with the infrastructure comment that’s all, like I said 40%/50% of the fee should be on player sales

if we still recruit strongly then great, but let’s wait and see

Could do with some defenders though

He’s done more in the short time he’s been here than any of our owners have done since relegation from the PL.

He’s admitted himself he will make mistakes along the way so just enjoy the ride mate. I think we should all be able to give him the benefit of any doubt and hopefully he is true to his word.

same people were saying 'its only June'

We kick off 3 weeks Sunday and currently still have 1 CB

The signings have been great don't get me wrong but still a LOT to do and less time to do it in
I'm optimistic that once back from Portugal things will gather pace . I still think we will see a couple more outgoings yet , hopefully not Gus, but I have faith in our recruitment.

They will anyway. Selling clubs are not as daft as 'some on here'. King's message is aimed at our fans

Probably both. Clubs won’t know what is being invested in infrastructure, what needs to be held back for wages, running costs etc. As I say, you certainly don’t come out and say you’re splashing the cash (‘we’re shopping at Harrods’ for the next Kevin Drinkell)

Not if the club doesn't own the actual physical infrastructure - also King has himself said we should be in the top 6 3 seasons in the next 5

That's my point. We own naff all and have been run fairly poorly in the past 15 years with very little money coming in. The money from Vik and possibly Hamer should help progress with those things. It does not mean we spend £30m on players.

Which does not mean on/off seasons in the play offs. The first year or two for development?

The thing is it works both ways. When he says the money comes in over a period of time so does it when we buy someone and have to pay up over a period of time.

Doug King - 'the improvements to infrastructure at the club will be coming out of my own pocket'

Also Doug King -

1.... we have had a huge cash windfall so maybe the plans can be turbocharged with a higher budget... 2... All the clubs funds are technically his own pocket... 3... Says we will continue to recruit selectively... 4.. Its a carefully worded warning to all the circling agents and clubs that we aren't ripe for ripping off... 5.. 6... 7.. 8... 9... I AM VIKTOR

Exactly. God this site is full of fucking idiotic children. Desperate to be mad at something, would prefer Doug to be telling everyone we had millions to spend. Thick as fuck
We have got millions - that's the point. We're being told here that it won't be spent. I'm not sure what people are not understanding

He shouldn't come out and say he's funding it all then should he?

That's my issue

Not the money being used, its sensible, its needed of course some should go on off the field stuff

He says stuff that contradicts what he's said before e.g family zone, infrastructure from his own pocket or backtracks on it, eg Season Tickets, box prices

Unless what he's saying is true or can be stuck to shouldn't he just shut up? that's what everyone said about the previous incumbents no?
ZOMG BUCKLE UP GUYS YOU WON’T BELIEVE MY LATEST ANTI KING COMMENT

The previous owners wouldnt ever back track and listen to fans concerns though, let alone actually invest in infrastructure and the playing staff
