Eelde is a 45 minute drive to Heerenveen where I would assume the club HQ is based. 3 hours doesn't leave a lot of time to travel there and back and wrap up the deal in the spare hour, I declare this a nothing burger.

Andy Turner says we've made a couple of bids for him. Assuming that's true then surely the intention is to play Sakamoto in attacking midfield? I don't see the sense in dropping seven-figure sums on two different RWBs.

It could be both. Sakamoto is a left footer who can play WB, AM - so gives us options at LWB, RWB and AM.

Palmer has a history of injuries, COH is recovering from an ACL and Allen out for the foreseeable with his illness. Sakamoto will probably start the season as an AM.

I'll be surprised if he starts a single game for us at LWB when we've already invested a fair whack on Bidwell and DaSilva. My guess is that Sakamoto is playing at wing back mainly out of necessity so far but we intend to bring in an every-week starter at RWB.

The Belgian league ‘expert’ they had on the CET after we signed Sakamoto seems to think his natural position is RB (presumably wing back).

Latibeaudiere seems to be able to play CB, RB and LB based on his spell at Swansea. It’s fair to say that we’re building a cross-functional team where players can fill multiple positions. My point here is that Sakamoto will probably be asked to play WB and AM. MR has a track record of deploying WBs in the box.

Best position: “The good news is that he can actually play on either the left or right, although his natural position is as a right back but Oostende were playing him mostly on the left as an attacking midfielder/winger.
