🤣 Modern slavery is a bit strong Sports that involve fees are nothing like any other type of industry but the players know what they are signing up for and are compensated very well. If a Dutch club came up with a decent fee I'd be happy to let him go but not terminate his contract.

So you hold him hostage and make his life miserable? I’m sure most of those on here who have said he needs to be near his son will find your post abhorrent

Most forms of torture don’t involve earning £1m a year but I see your point.
It does seem paradoxical to say ok, he should indeed leave for his child... but not for a year.

That's a lot of growing up time he'd miss!

Exactly - its beyond cruel - yet we seem to want to torture the guy
No one wants to torture him FFS you drama queen.

If he really wanted to go, he'd not turn up to training, he'd be putting stuff on social media to get a reaction off the club, he'd be looking miserable as sin in the photos.

The truth is (as always) we no nothing. But torture...fucking hell!

Its clear a lot on here don’t do euro flights very often

I’ve been to Schipol 8 times this year, CDG 4 times and Brussels twice. I wouldn’t want to build any of them into a regular commute. Security, passport control and delays at Schipol in particular has become a game of roulette. It can be very efficient one trip and an absolute nightmare the following week. Admittedly it’s worse on a British or non-EU passport but it’s no fun for anyone tbh.

And the 20 minute taxi time but at least you can get a pint of Guinness and take a smoke or three once you've alighted.
As anyway what you smuggling err I mean running?

A football player separating from their wife and kid isn’t usually news. Don’t think I can ever recall such a news story about a Coventry player.

Anyway, it’s not even so much the privacy aspect, it’s just generally dumb for the ITK B-team to be airing his laundry when we all want him to stay.

Perhaps we should consider why it’s news now and everyone seems to know about it

It is. Equally he'll be very well compensated for that year away and then can live the rest of his life in Holland if that's what he wants.

each to their own I guess but I have always find it pretty easy and far better than driving long distances every day - which I also have done

You really are a plank at times. You were very recently saying he should be fine with flying back and forward now you are saying we should just give him up... make your mind up. I'd make it as easy on him as possible over the next year but expect him to see out his contract like I'd expect people to see out their notice at work.

No other people said flying back is far too difficult. Posters have said he’s being deprived of his son and seeing him whenever he wants. If that’s the case that can be deemed a form of slavery in that an organisation is forcing an employee to work against his will

Not long ago you were arguing that this whole story isn't true anyway. Have you changed your mind?

I mean, sometimes you can be a total moron, and put on a display like a peacock flirting with a mate. And tonight you are doing just that.

If that is the case we should tell FIFA they need to abolish all fees ASAP otherwise all footballers are slaves and I'm going to have to find the world's smallest violin. It's abhorrent to compare a footballer with someone people trafficked to work in the sex industry etc. If you think they are comparable you need to give your head a wobble. I'm saying I can see why he'd want to run his contract down and I'm OK with it. I'm also OK selling for a reasonable price to a Dutch team. I can see why he wouldn't want to fly back and forward all the time too.

I think how Gyokeres and Hamer have conducted themselves this summer tells you a lot about them as individuals

Not sure what to take from that. Gyokeres has always been very driven and blunt on what he wants. Hamer by most accounts is like a much more talented Paul Telfer

Wasn’t it the Dutch who said the Bosman ruling was established to prevent slavery in football?

So all this nonsense is just so you can tell us you don't like Hamer. I think we had worked that one out quite a while ago.
